SUMMARY

The Therapeutic Behavioral Services Coach (TBS Coach/In-Home Behavior Specialist) is responsible for providing on-site (in-home and community-based) direct support services to help clients (up to age 21) improve problematic behaviors and impairments. The TBS Coach works in conjunction with schools, group homes, other allied professionals/treatment care personnel, families, and clients to facilitate therapeutic relationships, and build upon families’ and clients’ strengths.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ā Ā· Teach pro-social skills and facilitate effective family and community engagement

Ā· Conduct interventions aimed at maximizing client's function, including coping and social skills

Ā· Assist client and parent/guardian during the time client has most difficulty (e.g., before or after school hours)

Ā· Complete TBS assessments, Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA)

Ā· Complete weekly/monthly assessments to monitor progress

Ā Ā· Follow up results of support to determine reliability and validity of treatment used

Ā· Communicate with treatment therapist to amplify therapeutic gains

Ā Ā· Keep accurate, up-to-date records on clients served including contact summaries, progress notes, and support service plans

Ā· Maintain and ensure HIPAA, ethical standards, and professional boundaries with all staff and clients Ā· Ensure clients’ confidentiality and safety

Ā· Meet or exceed all productivity requirements set by the program

Ā Ā· May be required to o transport clients to accommodate community relationships o work occasional split shifts o handle assigned On-Call Phone / After Hours duties

OTHER DUTIES

Ā· Participate in program development and staff in-services

Ā· Participate in staff meetings as required

Ā· Perform administrative functions consistent with the needs of the program

Ā· Perform other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Ā Ā· This job operates in the field a majority of the time, traveling to clients’ locations such as client homes, community locations, partners’ offices, meetings, etc. and works part of the time in a professional office environment.

Ā Ā· The noise levels in these environments range from faint to extremely loud.

Ā Ā· Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions.

TRAVEL

Ā· Frequent local travel within the assigned region, up to 80% of the time

Ā· Must have reliable transportation to and from work, as well as during work, to travel to various sites in the assigned region

Ā REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Ā Ā· Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in human services or related field

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Ā· One or more years’ experience as a TBS Coach or a related role

Or Spanish Bilingual

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Ā If driving during work, the following are required at time of hire and continuously throughout employment:

Ā· Proof of valid California Driver License in good standing (no violation-related restrictions or IID)

Ā· Proof of valid Automobile Insurance

Ā· Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ā· Knowledge and/or experience working with seriously emotionally disturbed children, adolescents, and young adults

Ā Ā· Ability to o assess safety needs including mental health crises and take appropriate steps for client and staff safety o react decisively in emergency situations and crisis intervention as needed o effectively prioritize and manage time

Ā Ā· Excellent organizational, prioritization, time management, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills

Ā· Intermediate PC skills
