Facilities Technician

Department: Facilities / Maintenance
Location: Fuquay-Varina, NC
Reports To: EHS Manager

 

Position Summary

The Facilities Technician is responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and professional upkeep of the CCL Labels facility, grounds, and building infrastructure. This position performs inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and general facility support activities to ensure a clean, safe, and functional work environment. The Facilities Technician also supports facility improvement projects, regulatory compliance efforts, and sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

 

Facility Maintenance & Operations

  • Perform routine inspections of facility infrastructure, building conditions, and grounds.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and minor repairs to building structures, fixtures, doors, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, and other non-production facility assets.
  • Respond promptly to facility-related maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Maintain the appearance and functionality of exterior areas including grounds, parking lots, walkways, fencing, and common areas.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized repairs and facility services as needed.
  • Assist with office moves, furniture assembly, facility setups, and general building support activities.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and organization in designated areas.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, company policies, and established safety procedures.
  • Participate in safety inspections, audits, and facility assessments.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and required documentation.
  • Identify and report facility hazards or unsafe conditions and support corrective actions.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist with facility improvement projects, renovations, painting, and general building enhancements.
  • Support sustainability, recycling, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve facility appearance, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with operations, EHS, and site leadership to support plant objectives and continuous improvement efforts.

Inventory & Resource Management

  • Monitor inventory levels of facility maintenance supplies, janitorial materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist with ordering and maintaining adequate stock levels to support facility operations.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in safe working conditions.

On-Call & General Support

  • Provide support during facility emergencies, weather-related events, or building-related issues as needed.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation or provide after-hours support when required.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2–4 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, custodial services, construction support, or a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance instructions, work orders, and facility documentation.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.

Preferred

  • Technical or vocational training in facilities maintenance, construction, carpentry, or a related field.
  • Forklift certification and/or aerial lift certification.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial facility environment.
  • Experience with painting, carpentry, drywall repair, grounds maintenance, or general building upkeep.

  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
