Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced EHS Manager with strong environmental compliance expertise to lead Environmental, Health & Safety programs for our manufacturing operations in Alabama.

Our manufacturing processes include plastic injection molding, painting/coating, die casting, welding, assembly, and other automotive component manufacturing operations.

This role will have a strong focus on environmental compliance and permitting, while providing overall EHS leadership for the site. The position will also support the development and launch of new manufacturing operations at our brownfield facility, including facility modifications, equipment installation, commissioning, and production ramp-up.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all Environmental, Health & Safety programs for the Alabama manufacturing site.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable EPA, OSHA, ADEM, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Manage environmental permits, regulatory reporting, inspections, recordkeeping, and compliance requirements related to air emissions, wastewater/stormwater, waste, chemical management, SPCC, EPCRA/Tier II, and TRI, as applicable.
  • Evaluate environmental and EHS requirements associated with painting/coating, injection molding, die casting, welding, and other manufacturing processes, with particular focus on air permitting and VOC/HAP emissions compliance.
  • Support environmental permitting and EHS readiness for facility modifications, new equipment and process installations, commissioning, and production launches.
  • Conduct EHS compliance audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, and other functions to incorporate EHS requirements into equipment, processes, materials, and operational changes.
  • Serve as the primary site EHS contact with regulatory agencies, consultants, and other external parties, while driving continuous improvement in environmental and safety performance.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, with strong hands-on environmental compliance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. environmental regulations and practical experience with environmental permitting, air emissions, waste, wastewater/stormwater, and regulatory reporting.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and manufacturing safety programs.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, project-management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in automotive or automotive component manufacturing.
  • Environmental compliance experience with painting/coating, die casting, injection molding, and/or welding operations.
  • Strong experience with air permitting and VOC/HAP emissions compliance.
  • Experience supporting brownfield facility development, plant expansion, equipment installation, or new production launches.
  • Familiarity with Alabama environmental regulations and ADEM permitting/compliance requirements.
  • CHMM, CSP, CIH, PE, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001 experience is a plus.

 

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on EHS professional with strong environmental expertise, particularly in air permitting and manufacturing emissions compliance. The candidate should be able to independently identify environmental and safety requirements associated with new equipment, processes, materials, and production changes and work effectively with manufacturing and engineering teams to implement practical compliance solutions.
