Specializing in complex, highly technical projects, our in-house design and construction teams ensure seamless collaboration and smarter, more efficient outcomes for our clients worldwide.    JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY Carroll Daniel Engineering is seeking an experienced Lead Architect to join our Food and Beverage Division. This role leads to the development of architectural solutions from early concepts through construction, collaborating closely with operations, preconstruction, structural, and other engineering disciplines to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with project schedules.  The Lead Architect works directly with clients and internal teams to translate project goals into coordinated design solutions that meet functional, regulatory, and budget requirements. Working alongside the Director of Preconstruction and Operations teams, the Lead Architect ensures the owner’s objectives are realized, Carroll Daniel’s project goals are achieved, and the design remains fully integrated with construction execution.  Serving as the central point of coordination between the Owner, design consultants, Carroll Daniel teams, and subcontractors, the Lead Architect drives project success by maintaining focus on client satisfaction, team effectiveness, risk mitigation, financial performance, quality, and schedule. This role balances design intent with constructability to deliver successful design-build projects.  Organizational Relationship The F&B Lead Architect operates within the Design Department but will exclusively serve the Food and Beverage Division.  POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Architect Specific Provide architectural design leadership and project management throughout all phases of design and construction. Develop conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents (drawings and specifications). Produce rendered images, animations, and marketing materials to support project pursuits and business development efforts. Deliver milestone packages in accordance with project schedules and quality standards. Establish and maintain drafting templates, BIM standards, and design libraries to support internal workflows. Support 5D / Model-Based Estimating collaboration with Preconstruction teams. Assist in Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) efforts including model coordination and clash detection. Apply knowledge of construction means and methods across projects of varying size and complexity. Support preconstruction planning, field coordination, and construction administration activities. Participate in site visits to gather data, verify existing conditions, and support field teams. Preconstruction Process Support design-build project pursuits, including development of project scope, preparation of proposal deliverables, and participation in client presentations and interviews. Along with the construction Operations Team Lead, coordinate with Preconstruction and Design to ensure the appropriate Budget is established, all design and preconstruction meetings are conducted, as required. Work with Preconstruction to analyze alternative design options  Oversee Project Design Lead architectural design efforts from concept through construction, ensuring design intent, quality, and technical accuracy. Coordinate closely with structural, MEP, refrigeration, and process engineering disciplines to develop integrated building solutions. Collaborate closely with construction, estimating, and engineering teams to ensure design solutions are practical, buildable, and aligned with project budgets. Ensure compliance with building codes, life safety requirements, and applicable regulations and other local codes and standards. Serve as a leader during design coordination meetings with clients, consultants, and internal project teams. Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and support the team during the construction administration phase. Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts and resolve design conflicts, constructability issues, and field constraints early in the design process. Mentor and support the development of junior architects and designers. Coordinate with project management to ensure design deliverables meet project milestones. Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, workflows, and technical practices within the organization. The Design Project Manager will be subject to jobsite conditions and therefore should be able to cope with and withstand these conditions. This role may require occasional overnight travel to client locations based on project requirements. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or related field Experience: 10+ years of experience in the A/E Building Design & Construction industry; 5+ years of experience in Design-Build and managing teams through the process of Design Integration to Start of Construction Previous experience in food and beverage, freezer/cooler, controlled environment or industrial manufacturing facility projects is desirable. Experienced in Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build Best Practices Skill and Knowledge: Revit Bim Collaborate Pro / BIM360 Navisworks AutoCAD Lumion Preparation of CSI specifications, SpecLink Submittal review Understanding of industrial/ process coordination preferred License: Registered Architect (R.A) is preferred
