Our client is a well-respected commercial real estate law firm, located in Northern Virginia with 40 years in the legal industry. With 4 offices throughout Northern Virginia, 42 attorneys and a complementary mix of practice groups, the firm has grown to serve its clients’ changing needs.

Position Summary

We are looking for a Litigation Associate for the Litigation Practice Group based in the office in Prince William County, Virginia. The Litigation Practice Group handles novel and complex real estate litigation, title litigation, trust and estates litigation, eminent domain litigation, and business disputes. Experience in these types of matters is preferred. Experience with real estate transactions and land use matters, and familiarity with Northern Virginia courts, are also considered beneficial.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage Complex Litigation Cases: Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses for real estate, title, trust and estates, eminent domain, and general business litigation matters.
  • Represent Clients in Court: Appear and advocate on behalf of clients in Northern Virginia courts for hearings, depositions, trials, and dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Legal Research & Drafting: Conduct legal research on real estate transactions, land use regulations, and statutory law to develop case strategies and draft legal memoranda.
  • Client & Case Management: Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, gather evidence, evaluate claims, and recommend strategies for resolving commercial dispute.

Requirements

Education, Certifications and Years of Experience

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.): Required from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Active license to practice law in Virginia (or eligible for immediate reciprocity), with familiarity with Northern Virginia court systems preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong background in commercial real estate law, title disputes, trusts and estates, eminent domain, and general business litigation
  • Familiarity with real estate transactions, land use regulations, and statutory law
  • Understanding of local civil procedure, local court rules, and filing processes across Northern Virginia court systems
  • Proficient in drafting motions, pleadings, discovery requests, responses, and legal memoranda
  • Experience in evaluating claims, managing discovery, and structuring case strategies
  • Advanced legal research capabilities using databases like Westlaw or LexisNexis. Exceptional critical thinking skills to analyze complex legal issues, synthesize facts, and evaluate case merits

Compensation

Salary Range: $125,000 to $180,000; Mid-year and Year-End Bonuses are performance-based.

The salary range for this position is determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, qualifications, skill level, and location.

The firm offers a friendly office environment and benefits that include health insurance, 401(k) profit sharing, and paid time off and holidays. The hours are 9:00am – 5:30pm with a one hour lunch. (37.5-hour workweek).

 

Physical Demands 

This position primarily involves sedentary work in an office or remote setting. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers to operate computers and related equipment, and communicate verbally and in writing. Occasional lifting and carrying of equipment up to 25 pounds may be required. The role may also involve bending, reaching, or kneeling when setting up or troubleshooting hardware. Visual acuity is necessary for prolonged use of computer monitors and diagnosing technical issues.
