Job Title: CAD Mechanical Drafter
Â
Location: Gainesville, GA (In-Person)

Reports To: Design and Engineering ManagerÂ

Position Type: Full-Time
Â
Job Overview: The Mechanical Drafter will be tasked with creating 3D models and technical drawings of docks and associated parts. The scope of the Mechanical Drafter position will be to create models/drawings based on contract specifications, standards, and working knowledge of structural principles.
Competencies:
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with raw materials, how they are used and how to control quality.
- Mathematical, geometrical, and minor engineering computations.
- Strong communication skills with team members, vendors, and outside supporting companies.
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency to continually meet deadlines.
- Ability to stay focused and produce high quality drawings.

Key Responsibilities:
- Translate designs into 3D models and technical drawings for manufacturing and approval.
- Apply structural & mechanical knowledge during design to ensure structural integrity and manufacturability.
- Work with design team and production shop to improve quality and efficiency.
- May require completion of training courses provided by MDI.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties in the job classification.

Qualifications:
- Requires at least 6 (six) years of on-the-job training or any combination of education and experience.
- Requires at least 3 (three) years of 3D CAD design software experience, SolidWorks preferred.
- Fabrication and/or manufacturing experience is ideal.
- Microsoft Office Tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must effectively speak, read, and write the English language.
- Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in smaller and fast paced companies
- Experience in design of weldments, large assemblies and plate structures Â
- Broad-based mechanical design experience in heavy industrial/fabricated products
- Working through concept to production product development cycles Experience in the construction industry
