Job Title: CAD Mechanical Drafter

Location: Gainesville, GA (In-Person)

Reports To: Design and Engineering Manager

Position Type: Full-Time

Job Overview: The Mechanical Drafter will be tasked with creating 3D models and technical drawings of docks and associated parts. The scope of the Mechanical Drafter position will be to create models/drawings based on contract specifications, standards, and working knowledge of structural principles.

Competencies:

Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
Advanced knowledge and experience with raw materials, how they are used and how to control quality.
Mathematical, geometrical, and minor engineering computations.
Strong communication skills with team members, vendors, and outside supporting companies.
Ability to work with a sense of urgency to continually meet deadlines.
Ability to stay focused and produce high quality drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

Translate designs into 3D models and technical drawings for manufacturing and approval.
Apply structural & mechanical knowledge during design to ensure structural integrity and manufacturability.
Work with design team and production shop to improve quality and efficiency.
May require completion of training courses provided by MDI.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties in the job classification.

Qualifications:

Requires at least 6 (six) years of on-the-job training or any combination of education and experience.
Requires at least 3 (three) years of 3D CAD design software experience, SolidWorks preferred.
Fabrication and/or manufacturing experience is ideal.
Microsoft Office Tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Must effectively speak, read, and write the English language.
Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in smaller and fast paced companies
Experience in design of weldments, large assemblies and plate structures
Broad-based mechanical design experience in heavy industrial/fabricated products
Working through concept to production product development cycles Experience in the construction industry
