POSITION SUMMARY

The Dental Sterilization Technician is responsible for increasing the efficiency of the dental team by cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing dental equipment for use during dental procedures to ensure patients and staff are not exposed to germs from unsterile equipment. This position is also responsible for cleaning and preparing treatment rooms for use between patients and at end of day. This position reports to the Center Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing dental instruments according to procedures
  • Following manufacturers’ instructions for maintaining sterilization equipment properly
  • Recording/documenting information, such as maintenance and sterilization processes and notes
  • Cleaning/disinfecting treatment rooms between patients
  • Transporting dirty dental instruments to the dedicated sterilization area 
  • Tracking and ordering sterilization supplies
  • Adhering to standard protocols for infection control
  • Wearing personal protective equipment when required
  • Performing other routine office functions when required.

 

EDUCATION 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

 

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES

  • Current Basic Life Support Certification or agreement to obtain by the completion of the ninety-day introductory period.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • No experience required; on-the-job training will be provided.
