Job Purpose


Drive vehicle system design, prototyping, and cross-functional delivery of innovative engineering solutions from concept
to production, ensuring all products align with Kubota's standards for quality, safety, cost, and manufacturability while
directly resolving customer and field issues through hands-on development and proactive risk mitigation.


Duties and Responsibilities


Produce high-quality and innovative engineering work that meets project deadlines and objectives and aligns with
company goals and objectives related to quality, customer requirements, manufacturability, safety, sustainability,
durability, cost, and delivery

  • Collaborate with other project stakeholders (including other members of the design team, Test and Evaluation, Sales/Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, etc.) throughout the entire design process (concept generation, prototyping, and production)
  • Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional teams to ensure that product development meets customer needs, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
  • Develop, design, and prototype new products, systems, and technologies
  • Identify and solve design and development problems related to materials, production, and assembly processes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budget projections, and timelines
  • Create product specifications, including materials, features, and performance criteria
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design requirements, compliance/safety standards, supplier validation plans, and validation reports
  • Conduct research and analysis to support product development, including market analysis, feasibility studies, and technical evaluations
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and components
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality control, quality assurance, service teams, and sales/marketing teams, as needed
  • Generate creative and original design improvements to solve field and customer issues related to industry trends, developments, and emerging technologies
  • Create 3D models, drawings, and design reports in accordance with Kubota standards, guidelines, and best practices
  • Utilize engineering tools including diagramming software (i.e. Draw.io), task and revision management (i.e. Clickup, Jira, GitHub), IDE tools (i.e. Arduino), and simulation tools (i.e. LTSpice, PSpice)
  • Utilize quality tools such as FMEA to proactively analyze and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and maintain the Development Guidelines through detailed design records and thorough reviews of lessons learned
  • Supportive of working hands-on in the model shop, creating rapid prototype concepts (3D printing, etc.), and conceptually implementing electric component systems
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member must have the ability to work in diverse environments (office, test field, supplier, manufacturing, customer location)
  • Team member must be able to work extended and flexible work hours to interface with workers on all shifts as well as international business units. Team member must be physically able to travel domestically and internationally (Up to 15% of travel)

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar engineering field
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of engineering and computer software such as core design & modeling software (3D CAD modeling), and general standard documentation productivity software (Word and Excel)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering mechanics and vehicle system design: electric motor systems, mechanisms, statics, dynamics, kinematics, etc.
  • Experience developing low voltage, CAN-bus, and/or high voltage electrical architectures
  • Demonstrated experience with programming languages (Python, MAT Lab, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with design of electrical components and wiring systems
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes: cutting, drilling, welding, etc.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organization skills
  • Focused on the growth and agile mindset with a passion toward innovation
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience with cost estimation and product development

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • (2-5) years prior experience in design and new product development
  • Experience conducting software regression and blackbox testing
  • Cyber-security risk assessment experience for IOT environments
  • Experience developing electric motors, batteries, display panels, and powered electronics
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 environment (email, teams, and sharepoint)
  • Demonstrated experience with design for manufacturability and GD&T
  • Demonstrated experience with scalable modular architecture
  • Demonstrated experience with CATIA V5
  • Demonstrated experience with FMEA and risk management tools
  • Experience and demonstrated success working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Experience working with mixed Japanese and American teams and leadership.

Physical Requirements
Team member uses hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; ascend stairs; balance; stoop,
kneel or crouch; talk and hear. It may be necessary to travel between offices in our facilities, and it could be in hot, cold, or
inclement weather conditions. The team member must occasionally lift-up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by
the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
