General job duties of an Automotive Service Technician are (this is not an all-inclusive list):
- Review and follow computerized automotive repair orders
- Able to perform an inspection of the vehicles basic functions and identify items that may need attention.
- Perform tire pressure checks, oil changes, tire rotations, replace fuel filters, air filters and cabin filters, etc.
- Communicate services, estimates and recommended repairs demonstrating exceptional service to customers.
- Ensure the customer's vehicle is kept clean.
- Keep the shop area neat and clean.
- Make certain all equipment is in proper working order.
- Operate tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Complete all required training in the allotted time frame.
- Pursue technical knowledge on an ongoing basis as automotive technology changes
- Comply with all laws and regulations about hazardous materials.
- Understand federal, state and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
Requirements
General requirements of an Automotive Service Technician are (this is not an all-inclusive list):
- Ability to read, interpret, write and speak technical documents in English. Hablo Espanol es una ventaja!
- Valid driver's license
- Be able to maintain an organized neat and safe work area
- Possess a high level of motivation, energy and customer focused attitude
- Be reliable and able to work a flexible schedule depending on business needs
- Be able to stand on concrete or metal surfaces for extended periods of time
- Be able to work in an environment that frequently experiences extreme hot and cold temperatures, loud noises and exhaust fumes.
- Be able to lift and move inventory items, trash cans and other work-related items (up to 50lbs.)
- Be able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time.
- ​Be able to push, pull, pull-up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head/neck/shoulders as needed, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands - all for extended periods of time and/or many times throughout the work shift.
