JOB SUMMARY:
Â
Carries out court orders relating to the supervision, treatment and rehabilitation of juveniles under the jurisdiction of the court. Â Provides counseling services and assists juveniles and their families in finding workable solutions to day-to-day problems.
Â
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Â
Ability to supervise caseloads of 40 to 60 juvenile offenders.
Â
Counsels parents and/or juveniles regarding youthful offender problems.
Â
Appear in court 3 to 4 times a week prepared to give recommendations and dispositions concerning juvenile offenders.Â
Â
Visit both County and City schools weekly to help assist with school issues involving probationers. Â Â
Â
Administer drug screens.Â
Â
Conduct home visits, investigations and crisis interventions.Â
Â
Assist law enforcement officials in investigating juvenile crimes; presents court testimony.Â
Â
Attend Georgia Association of Independent Juvenile Courts Conferences.Â
Â
Assist in transportation of youth to various appointments.Â
Â
Prepare a monthly report for Judges and Chief Probation Officer that give status of overall caseload.Â
Â
Prepare a monthly report on our monthly Pathfinders staffing. Â Pathfinders is our sexual perpetrator group. Â
Â
Sit in as a Court representative on the Child Fatality Review Committee.Â
Â
Attend monthly staffing meetings for Match Committee.Â
Â
Prepares type files and maintain various juvenile records, including information on social histories, contacts or referrals, planned treatment, and progress.Â
Â
Speak to civic organizations, schools, churches, and youth groups as requested.Â
Â
Prepare and maintain probation lists, files and records including restitution to victims.
Â
Conduct weekly reading groups for youthful offenders.
Â
Conduct weekly truancy group for youthful offenders.
Â
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Â
Performs other related duties as required.
Â

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Â
Education and Experience:
Â
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Juvenile (Criminal) Justice, Sociology, Social Work, Education or related field.
Â
One year juvenile court experience and/or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above.Â
Â
Must have good communication skills, self-motivation and be able to work on their own.Â
Â
Bilingual skills (Spanish and English) desirable. .

Licenses and Certifications:
Â
Valid Class I Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Â
Â
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Â
Knowledge of state and federal laws, practices and procedures for youthful offenders desirable.
Â
Knowledge of individual, group, and family counseling techÂniques a plus.
Â
Knowledge of available agencies and resources available to clients and their families.
Â
Ability to gain trust of and establish rapport with clients.
Â
Ability to apply crisis intervention techniques.
Â
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Â
Ability to plan and administer effective rehabilitation proÂgrams.

Physical Ability: Essential functions of this position continuously require the ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing);Â operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copier, and printer.
