Overview

Responsible for performing technical and clerical duties not requiring professional judgment in the inpatient pharmacy distribution system. Responsible for maintaining inventory in Carousel areas, vault, and Pharmacy Stores. Serve as the primary resource for questions/requests, training, day to day workflow issues, and communication of staffing assignments in all areas of central Pharmacy. Competencies required for Pharmacy Technician Level 3 must be completed and successfully assessed within 6 months of start date and at annual evaluation thereafter.
Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Education, Experience, and Training: 1. Must meet all requirements of a Pharmacy Technician Level 1, including required competencies 2. In addition, one of the following requirements must be met: a. 12 months of UF Health Pharmacy Technician experience b. 6 months of UF Health Pharmacy Technician experience and one of the following: i. Two years of hospital/institutional pharmacy experience ii. Three years of retail pharmacy experience 3. Demonstrate the ability to work independently 4. Demonstrate the ability to contribute to effective working relationships 5. Experience managing projects preferred 6. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite preferred Job Knowledge, Skills and Characteristics: 1. Must know how to operate telecommunications equipment, calculator, and computer workstation 2. Must demonstrate proficiency with pharmaceutical calculations Additional Requirement: As a condition of employment within the Pharmacy Services Department of Shands Hospital all employees must be accessible by telephone. This requires each employee to provide a valid telephone number to the department Staff Assistant, in order for the department to reach them in the event of hospital need and/or emergency. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose Licensure/Certification/Registration: 1. All Pharmacy Technicians must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician or licensed Pharmacist Intern prior to their first day of employment. 2. Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification by exam (PTCB) within the first 90 days and maintain certification while in role.
