Job Summary: 

Provides meaningful internal and external business analytics, including profitability analysis, report development and maintenance, and freight optimization studies. This position will focus on general analytical problem solving with a focus on continuous improvement, freight cost and service optimization. Assists the Pricing Manager with additional tasks outside of essential duties. 

 

Essential Duties:

  • Collaborate with sales and operations teams to develop accurate demand forecasts based on historical data, market trends, and other relevant factors.
  • Analyze freight data to predict and report on revenue, cost, and margin trends
  • Query multiple data sources to aggregate data for reporting and analysis
  • Work with internal teams to develop company pricing strategies
  • Update logic for Spotbot software as well as submit requests for troubleshooting
  • Monitor Spotbot performance and collaborate with internal and external to resolve any technical issues
  • Collaborate with technology teams to leverage transportation management systems (TMS) and other tools for efficient price planning and reporting.
  • Design dashboards for the visualization of customer freight data in the PowerBI.
  • Proactively monitor the results of pricing decisions and revise pricing if necessary. Engages and interacts with business users to identify requirements and develop documents for the reporting needs of the business; engages with business users to troubleshoot and resolve reporting issues;
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to transportation and freight operations to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Troubleshoots data and BO application issues; fully analyzes impact and determines strategy for resolution; assists in implementation of solutions;
  • Support the methodology for creating baseline pricing. Implements standard deviations for price points developed from unbiased research using a mix of strategies that assess costs, competitors, market positions and overall value.
  • Researches competitor pricing schemes, leads market analysis studies, investigates rationale behind historical pricing, and consults with internal team members as part of the decision-making process for determining pricing models that support profitability and contribution margin targets.
  • Refine data to provide the clearest possible views into shipping activity.
  • Use different pricing scenarios to rate shipments to compare net results.
  • Perform revenue management and cost analysis for new and existing customers.
  • Communicate pricing decisions verbally and in written form directly to the sales teams and customers.
  • Maintain detailed records of completed pricing as well as customer agreements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and insights for enhancing logistics strategies.
  • Support Sales through pricing effectively and efficiently
  • Assists Pricing Manager with additional tasks

 

 

Experience and Skills:

  • Required: 4+ years of experience in transportation logistics operations
  • Advanced computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerBi, Adobe, customer web sites)
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
  • Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills
  • Experience maintaining professional and cooperative relationships with all internal and external customers
  • Experience working independently and making sound decisions under demanding time constraints
  • Experience performing under heavy demands while maintaining exceptional quality
  • Experience performing detail-oriented tasks
  • Ability to recognize and correct discrepancies
  • Effective multi-tasking
  • Discretion in handling confidential material
  • A customer-driven and team-oriented individual who collaborates across the company

 

Education Requirements:

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Bachelors Degree in a related field of study (Business Administration, Transportation Logistics, Supply Chain management, Mathematics, etc.), or technical school certification in Business Administration, Transportation Logistics or other related field of technical study

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

 

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some administrative-type duties may be required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, bending or stooping as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours.

 

Introductory Period:

Progress reports at 30 and 60 days with a review by management at 90 days.
