Vice President of Public Affairs, Advocacy & Organizing

Planned Parenthood of Florida is seeking a seasoned, strategic, and mission driven Vice President of Public Affairs, Advocacy & Organizing to lead our statewide advocacy campaigns, grassroots organizing programs, and public policy strategy during a critical moment for sexual and reproductive health care in Florida.

This executive leadership role oversees the organization’s advocacy and organizing infrastructure and sets the vision and direction for public affairs strategy across the organization. The Vice President will lead senior level teams, shape legislative and regulatory strategy, build influential coalitions, and ensure that policy priorities are supported by strong grassroots mobilization and community based advocacy efforts across Florida.

This role is designed for an experienced public affairs executive ready to operate at a statewide level of influence and lead high impact advocacy and organizing initiatives that advance reproductive freedom in Florida. This role requires a leader with deep experience building and managing advocacy campaigns and organizing programs, not solely public affairs or communications strategy.

What You Will Lead

  • Development and execution of a comprehensive statewide advocacy, organizing, and public affairs strategy aligned with PPFL’s long term goals.
  • Oversight of Organizing, Advocacy Campaigns, Policy, Data, and Operations teams, ensuring coordinated strategy and measurable impact and alignment between grassroots mobilization, advocacy priorities, and legislative initiatives.
  • Leadership of advocacy campaigns and organizing efforts that mobilize communities, partners, and stakeholders to protect and expand access to reproductive health care across Florida.
  • Legislative and regulatory monitoring, analysis, and strategic response planning to advance proactive policy initiatives and mitigate harmful proposals.
  • Cross functional collaboration with senior leadership to assess policy impact on operations, sustainability, and long term organizational growth.
  • Executive level briefings and strategic updates to organizational leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • External Leadership & Representation
  • Serve as Planned Parenthood of Florida’s primary liaison to state legislators, legislative staff, administration officials, and key policy partners.
  • Build and sustain high level relationships with elected officials, coalition partners, advocacy organizations, and community leaders.
  • Represent the organization as an official spokesperson in media interviews, public forums, and high profile community engagements.
  • Ensure public affairs strategies are informed by organizing efforts, advocacy campaigns, data insights, and community impact.

Location & Statewide Engagement Expectations

This position requires consistent in person engagement across Planned Parenthood of Florida’s service area.The Vice President maintains a visible leadership presence at advocacy events, coalition meetings, board engagements, and executive strategy sessions throughout the year. Public affairs activity is concentrated in South Florida, including Miami Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, with additional engagement across other regions of the state.

Seasonal travel to Tallahassee during legislative session is required, in addition to regular travel for statewide events and strategic engagement.

To effectively build relationships, mobilize advocacy efforts, and collaborate closely with executive leadership, candidates should reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a location within Planned Parenthood of Florida’s service area that supports regular in person leadership presence. This is not a fully remote position.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in advocacy campaigns, grassroots organizing, public policy, legislative affairs, political organizing, or government relations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading advocacy campaigns or organizing programs that mobilize communities, stakeholders, or voters around policy priorities.
  • Demonstrated success leading director level or senior advocacy, policy, or organizing teams.
  • Deep knowledge of Florida’s political and regulatory landscape.
  • Proven ability to design and execute high impact advocacy and policy strategies within complex political environments.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills, including public speaking and media engagement.
  • Strong negotiation, coalition building, and stakeholder management expertise.
  • Sound strategic judgment, political acumen, and the ability to operate effectively in high pressure environments.
  • A deep personal commitment to reproductive rights and Planned Parenthood’s mission.

  • Salary starting at $130,000 per year, final compensation commensurate with executive experience.
