Job Title: Service Plumber

Full-Time position - 40 hours per week

Salary: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in residential and commercial plumbing service. The Service Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing used for water distribution and wastewater disposal.

The Service Plumber works in cooperation with other LWMC trades and outside vendors to ensure that all specifications, regulations, and policies are met, and to ensure the efficient completion of projects.

 

Leisure World of Maryland Corporation (LWMC), the property management company for Leisure World of Maryland, is a private, age-restricted community comprised of 29 community associations representing over 8,500 residents and extensive Trust operations, located in Silver Spring, MD. All work will be done on the property.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Perform routine maintenance of plumbing systems in residential and commercial buildings.
  • Perform journeyman-level work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of, water, gas, and sanitary sewer systems.
  • Repair or replace damaged plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, bathtubs, water heaters, garbage disposals, and faucets.
  • Document the cost of repairs by keeping records of time and material.
  • Adhere to all plumbing codes, installation requirements, and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked truck.
  • Always communicate professionally.
  • Required to be on-call after hours and on weekends on a rotational basis and be available to work in the event of emergency maintenance repairs.
  • Perform work in accordance with established safety procedures including wearing appropriate shoes, gloves, and protective clothing.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE

  • Journeyman's License
  • Backflow Certification
  • Current valid driver's license with a clean driving record

EDUCATION

High School graduate or General Education Degree (GED) Required.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance and repair of plumbing systems.
  • Ability to understand and implement the current plumbing code.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other trades.
  • Ability to deal with vendors, internal customers, and residents with tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Ability to participate in the operations and activities of the Plumbing Department.
  • Ability to read, and interpret, blueprints and piping diagrams.
  • Ability to use the tools and equipment of the plumbing trade.
  • Ability to maintain inventory.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater disposal.
  • Knowledge of plumbing techniques, procedures, equipment and terminology, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations applicable to the trade.

In addition to the community residents, the Service Plumber's principal working relationships are with employees of LWMC and contract personnel.
