Surgical Technologist – Operating Room

Job Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
Salary Range: $27.26–$38.48 per hour
Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 with a 2-year commitment
Relocation Assistance: Available; details discussed during interview
Experience: 2+ years of Surgical Technologist experience strongly preferred
Schedule: Day Shift
Travel: Required between regional campuses; mileage reimbursed

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Surgical Technologist to join a dynamic perioperative services team supporting a variety of surgical procedures across multiple regional locations.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience, strong knowledge of operating room procedures, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.

This position supports a broad range of surgical specialties and may require travel between multiple campuses. Mileage for required travel is reimbursable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms for scheduled surgical procedures.

  • Ensure surgical instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications are available and properly prepared.

  • Assist surgical teams before, during, and after procedures.

  • Maintain sterile technique and ensure adherence to infection prevention and safety standards.

  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other members of the surgical team.

  • Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures.

  • Assist with surgical counts and maintain accurate accounting of instruments, sponges, needles, and other supplies.

  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields.

  • Assist with patient positioning and preparation according to established procedures.

  • Ensure surgical equipment is functioning properly and report equipment concerns promptly.

  • Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized operating room environment.

  • Follow established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation using electronic systems.

  • Work collaboratively with nurses, surgeons, anesthesia professionals, and other members of the perioperative team.

  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support different surgical specialties and locations.

  • Travel between regional campuses as operational needs require.

Surgical Specialties

The Surgical Technologist may support procedures including:

  • Orthopedic surgery

  • Gynecological surgery

  • General surgery

  • Podiatric surgery

  • Ophthalmology

  • Gastrointestinal (GI) procedures

  • Robotic surgery

  • Endoscopy

  • Urology procedures

Department & Facilities

The regional surgical services environment includes multiple locations and supports a diverse surgical volume.

Primary procedural areas include:

  • 5 Operating Rooms

  • 1 Endoscopy Room

  • 1 Urology Room

The position may require floating to other campuses within the region based on staffing and operational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical procedures.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operating room environment.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to travel between assigned regional campuses as required.

Required Certification

  • BLS certification required.

  • NBSTSA certification preferred.

Technology & Equipment

The department utilizes standard operating room surgical equipment along with:

  • Epic electronic medical record system.

  • Pyxis medication management system.

  • Standard surgical instrumentation and operating room equipment.

  • Specialty equipment associated with orthopedic, robotic, ophthalmology, GI, urology, and other surgical procedures.

Schedule

Current shifts include:

  • 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM

  • 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Ten-hour shifts may also be discussed based on department needs and growing surgical volume.

Additional scheduling requirements may vary based on operational needs.

Compensation Highlights

  • $27.26–$38.48 per hour

  • $15,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment
