Reporting to the GVP of Enterprise Technology Ops, this role ensures Gartnerās cloud platforms areĀ scalable, secure, and highly resilient, supporting enterprise digital transformation goals.Ā The VPĀ drivesĀ operational excellence through automation and continuous improvement, maximizing uptime, performance, and efficiency across a hybrid cloud landscape. Serving as the cloud subject-matter expert, they provideĀ data-driven insights and performance reports, linking cloud initiatives to business outcomes. The ideal candidate is anĀ experienced global leaderĀ with deep technicalĀ expertiseĀ in cloud engineering (multi-cloud and DevOps) and a proven ability to implement secure CI/CD strategies. Key ResponsibilitiesĀ
Cloud Strategy & ArchitectureĀ
Define and drive Gartnerās cloud strategyĀ spanning AWS, Azure, GCP, and private/on-prem environments. Ensure the cloud architecture is aligned with enterpriseĀ objectivesĀ and digital initiatives, deliveringĀ scalable and resilient infrastructure servicesĀ across the globe. Set the vision for hybrid cloud integration andĀ continuously evolve the cloud roadmapĀ to meet future business needs and technology trends.Ā Ā
Cloud Operations & ReliabilityĀ
Ā OverseeĀ 24Ć7Ā cloud operationsĀ and ensure high availability and performance across all platforms. ImplementĀ automation, monitoring (observability), and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices to maximizeĀ uptimeĀ and quickly resolve incidents.Ā Drive continuous improvementĀ in operational processes (change management, incident response) to enĀ hance system reliability, security, and efficiency.Ā Ā
FinOps & Cost ManagementĀ
Ā Lead cloudĀ financial managementĀ (FinOps)Ā Ā toĀ optimizeĀ resource usage and cloudĀ spend. Establish governance for cost control, including budgeting, forecasting, and chargeback practices. Use analytics toĀ monitorĀ cloud consumption andĀ identifyĀ opportunities for cost savings (e.g.Ā rightsizing, reservations) without compromising performance. Communicate cloud costs and value delivered to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.Ā Ā
Security & ComplianceĀ
Ensure robust security and complianceĀ across all cloud and data center operations. Partner with Cybersecurity and Compliance teams to enforce policies, protect sensitive data, and mitigate risks. Champion aĀ āsecure by designā DevOps approach, integrating security into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code processes. Oversee compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements in theĀ cloud, andĀ implement strong disaster recovery and backup strategies to safeguard the business.Ā Ā
Team Leadership & CollaborationĀ
Lead and mentor a high-performing global teamĀ of cloud engineers, architects, and operations professionals. Provide clear direction andĀ objectives, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Manage and develop direct reports (including multiple directors), building leadership depth and technical talent across regions.Ā Collaborate cross-functionallyĀ with IT peers, Security, Application Development, and business units to ensure cloud solutions meet enterprise needs and to drive joint initiatives. Serve as an escalation point forĀ major issuesĀ and a champion for operational excellence and customer service.Ā Ā
Required QualificationsĀ
Ā 10+ years of IT infrastructure/cloud engineering experience, including significantĀ senior leadership roles in large, global enterprises. ProvenĀ track recordĀ of managing complex, hybrid cloud environments at scale and leading large teams to deliver reliable services.Ā
Deep technicalĀ expertiseĀ in multi-cloud and hybrid infrastructureĀ ā hands-onĀ proficiencyĀ with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud platforms, as well as private cloud/data center environments. Strong knowledge of virtualization, networking, storage, and other foundational infrastructure domains.Ā Ā
Strong DevOps and automation skillsĀ ā experience withĀ Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)Ā andĀ CI/CD pipelinesĀ for cloud deployments. Demonstrated ability to implement secure, automated build/deployment processes and apply SRE principles to imĀ prove reliability.Ā Ā
Innovative mindset with AI/ML exposureĀ ā familiarity with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence; experience enabling the use ofĀ Large Language Models (LLMs)Ā or AI-driven solutions in an enterprise setting is a plus,Ā demonstratingĀ the ability toĀ leverageĀ innovation for operational improvement.
AcumenĀ and FinOps experienceĀ ā adept at managing large cloud budgets and driving cost optimization initiatives.Ā Able to analyzeĀ usage patterns andĀ implementĀ governance (e.g., cost allocation, capacity planning) to ensure cost-effective operations.Ā
Excellent communication and stakeholder managementĀ ā proven ability to engage with C-level executives and present technology strategies and status in business terms. Strong influence and negotiation skills to drive decisions and alignment across cross-functional teams.Ā Ā
Educational background and certificationsĀ āĀ Bachelorās degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fieldĀ (MasterāsĀ preferred). Relevant indusĀ try certifications (e.g., cloud provider architect certs, ITIL, PMP/PgMP, or DevOps/SRE certifications) are highly desirable.Ā Ā

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 200,000 USD - 284,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
