TITLE: Shipping Supervisor

 

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Supervises and coordinates all activities on shift in regards to the productive and efficient operation of the Distribution Center.  Will work closely with the Distribution Center Manager in setting and meeting goals.  Will work closely in transitioning workflow between shifts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • College or technical school certificate preferred; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as inventory sheets, timesheets, shipping and receiving documents, safety rules, policy and procedure manuals, etc.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to respond effectively to employee questions and to present information.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as hours worked, overtime, productions, etc.  Ability to apply concepts of basic math
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.                                   
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in MS Office, such as Word, Excel and Outlook. 
  • Forklift certificate.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Trains others in the shipping/auditing department, including, but not limited to; properly audit all orders prior to shipping for validity, apply any additional labels (customer specific labels, shipping labels) to product, produce any shipping paperwork required, close out order in system once complete, load orders an appropriate carrier truck
  • Respond to inquiries from employees concerning WMS system, i.e., RF devices, how to correct errors, process orders, etc.
  • Maintain inventory integrity. Investigates and discrepancies and work with appropriate personnel to resolve
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
  • Performs safety sweeps throughout the shift identifying and correcting unsafe conditions.
  • Enforces all Medegen / Inteplast policies to ensure the shift is in compliance.
  • Dealing with carrier drivers as well as other departments in a respectful and willing demeanor.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • Extreme cold in the winter and extreme heat in the summer time.
