Introduction:

Big Mike's Rental Sales & Service is a complete rental service for contractors & homeowners. This document outlines the requirements, reporting relationships, authority, responsibilities, duties, and measurements of performance for the position of Rental Supervisor of Big Mike’s Rentals, Sales, and Service.

 

Role Overview:

The Rental Supervisor plays a pivotal role in creating a positive customer experience and driving the store’s operational success by coordinating maintenance schedules, ordering parts, managing sales inventory, and performing routine maintenance on equipment. Additionally, to provide the necessary planning, organization, coordination, and control to meet the established goals and current operating procedures of the store.

 

A Rental Supervisor also requires high organization, thoroughness, and attention to detail.


Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Required: High School or equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree in management or related field, or equivalent experience in a managerial role (3+ years).
  • Experience: Management, Retail, Equipment rental and operation


Key Responsibilities and Other Duties:


  • Monthly schedule for personnel for BMR
  • Ensures that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, including greeting and acknowledging every customer and by maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge, and all other components of customer service
  • Trains staff on sales of retail items in stock
  • Work with the accounting department to handle collections on overdue accounts in a timely manner
  • Follows all procedures related to the rental operation
  • Periodically accompany Drivers on deliveries of rental equipment
  • Train and supervise all assigned staff for their given duties and responsibilities
  • Implements and maintains customer service standards
  • Maintains all sales inventory and common repair parts needed; including: filters, tires, oils/fluids, etc. Works to maintain a pleasing sales environment with items needed by customers and works with management to keep pricing and stock levels to current standards
  • Regularly inspects equipment for damage, wear and tear repair and recommends replacement OR maintains rental equipment in a manner that all items are safe to rent and are actively being inspected and repaired. Recommends sale and replacement as needed
  • Plans and assigns daily goals, tasks, and assignments
  • Responds to requests for information from customers and gives correct information
  • Engages in technical discussions with potential clients through demonstrations and presentations
  • Remains knowledgeable and up-to-date on changes and developments in all products offered by the company
  • Keeps management informed of all activity, including timely preparation of reports
  • Assists in adjusting strategies
  • Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures
  • Performs any other duties assigned by management
  • Ensures adherence to all company safety policies and procedures
  • Maintains physical building according to the company standards. Communicates with the management team on areas of needed maintenance
  • Ensures equipment is maintained and in rentable condition
  • Communicates with store manager for all special pricing considerations outside normal sales policies.
  • Supports outside sales with product and customer information as needed, quotations, billing, and delivery coordination.
  • Partner with the management team and purchasing department in the inventory control process. Including stock level adjustments, reorder levels, special requirements, annual inventory processes, and other functions
  • Review common entry errors with management and billing, and train sales personnel as required
  • Build into the sales staff through continued training, personnel development, cross-training, and foster a positive work environment.
  • All other duties assigned by Senior Management

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • The use of conversational, analytical, and observational skills that demonstrate an ability to organize and process administrative details.
  • Knowledgeable in general inventory procedures;
  • Computerized record-keeping through Alert, Excel, and any other required programs.
  • Skills and ability to directly interface with all members of the workforce and management.
  • Skills and ability to use a telephone to clearly communicate in English with customers.
  • Basic skills and ability to use office equipment, calculator, fax machine, copy machine, postage machine, etc.
  • Requires knowledge of Heavy equipment and retail sales.


Supervisory Responsibility:


  • Has the ability to direct all BMR personnel, processes, systems, or equipment.
  • Initiate methods or systems within the department to improve quality and/or service to customers and other departments for increased profitability related to BMR front counter/retail.
  • Maintain BMR Store staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Does not have the authority to obligate Big Mikes Rental Sales and Service (BMR)/FCWGS in any contract
  • Does not have the authority to hire or fire employees


Reporting Relationships:

  • The Rental Supervisor reports directly to the FCWGS-Gallup Manager or General Manager.
  • All BMR Store employees report to the Rental Supervisor.


 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Physical effort requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching above shoulders, gripping, reaching with hands and arms, carrying, and climbing up and down stairs. Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, and keyboard operation. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods. Exposure to dust, loud noise. Visual abilities, near and far vision, depth perception. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Working Conditions: 

Office, warehouse, yard, and store environments. Both indoors and outdoors.


 

Work Hours 

Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm, with rotational Saturdays from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm.
