Overview

The Asset & Equipment Account Manager will work directly with the Financial Controller, Division Controllers and Assistant Controllers to manage the proper accounting for fixed assets, inventory and equipment.

The Asset & Equipment Account Manager will partner with operations and own the asset lifecycles through disposal while maintaining strong internal controls in accordance with US GAAP. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, an effective communicator and able to work in a fast-paced environment. This role will report directly to the Financial Controller, or their designee.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fixed Assets
    • Maintain fixed asset subledger; ensure proper capitalization, useful lives, depreciation, and componentization.
    • Manage CIP/projects-to-asset transfers; review CapEx requests and compliance with policies.
    • Perform monthly close activities, reconciliations, rollforwards, and flux analyses.
    • Conduct periodic asset audits, tagging, physical verification, impairments, and disposals.
    • Prepare and support external/internal audit requests; maintain policy documentation.
  • Inventory and Equipment Accounting
    • Oversee inventory valuation (e.g., standard cost/average), reserves (excess/obsolescence), and shrink.
    • Coordinate cycle counts and bi-annual physical inventories; analyze variances and root causes.
    • Monitor equipment allocations, usage, and maintenance capitalization vs. expense.
    • Reconcile inventory subledgers to the GL; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
    • Support lease accounting for equipment (ASC 842) in coordination with Corporate Accounting.
  • Controls, Reporting, and Analytics
    • Maintain internal controls and improve processes and documentation.
    • Develop dashboards/metrics (turns, aging, utilization, CapEx vs. budget).
    • Provide monthly management reporting, forecasts, and ad hoc analyses.
    • Partner with Operations to optimize working capital and asset utilization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field. 
  • Minimum five years of work experience with a focus on fixed assets and inventory.
  • Demonstrated experience with physical inventories, asset tagging, reconciliations, and close processes.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills; ability to partner cross-functionally on site.
  • Must work on-site daily in Galveston, TX; limited local travel between facilities as needed
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience with CMIC strongly preferred.
