Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.  

  1. Performs Quality Control/Assurance and Field Inspections, as well as preparations of Inspection Reports and Sketches. 
  2. Complete and document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste. 
  3. Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products; recording quality results. 
  4. Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials. 
  5. Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor. 
  6. Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work. 
  7. Coordination with Production, Customers and Third-Party Surveyors as required. 
  8. Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. 

Required Education & Experience: 

  1. High School/GED preferred. 
  2. Three to four years of Quality Control / NDT / NDE and/or NACE experience in a maritime or oil & gas industry preferred. 
  3. Or 5-6 years of Welding / Fitting experience in a Fabrication Shop or Shipyard. 

Working Conditions: 

  1. Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, as well as in an office-controlled environment. 
  2. Must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE. 
  3. Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved. 
  4. Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights while wearing fall prevention equipment.  
  5. Working with hot and sometimes hazardous materials. 
  6. Aboard ships, rigs, both on and offshore as well as in confined spaces. 
  7. The work may require standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching, and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.  

Necessary Equipment Operation: 

  1. General inspection measuring and testing equipment. 
  2. General Computer skills  

Special Skills: 

  1. NDE / NDT and/or NACE Skills preferred. 
  2. Level 2 VT, PT and MT certifications 
  3. Knowledge of Welding Materials and Codes/Specifications preferred. 
  4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand codes/specifications, sketches, and technical manuals. 
  5. Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures. 
  6. Strong Organizational skills. 
  7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  8. High performance and a strong team player.
