Job DetailsJob Location: Ganado, AZ 86505Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolPosition Summary: Under the direct supervision of the EVS Supervisor, EVS Lead Technicians and the general supervision of the Chief Operating Officer and Surgery Department House Supervisor; The EVS Technician Level II is responsible for providing a safe care environment for patients, and staff (visitors as appropriate to setting) within a specialty area (surgical services/peri-operative suite, cath lab, endoscopy etc.) achieved by demonstrating the principles of cleaning, disinfection and quality assurance toward the reduction of harmful pathogens for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff.  While executing the assigned tasks, the EVS Tech II will have contact with patients and perhaps family. Contact may include physical, psychological, educational, and safety related and should be appropriate to the specific demographics of patients served in assigned specialty service areas. Responsible for ensuring timely room turns related to patient discharge within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The EVS tech II, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention and patient experience.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: •    High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. •    One (1) year of progressive work experience in Environmental Service, Housekeeping, or similar position requiring similar techniques.  •    Six (6) months of progressive work experience in specialty clinic or similar position requiring similar techniques preferred. •    Must possess a valid driver license with a clean driving record. •    Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program requirements and background investigation. •    Must possess a current American Heart Association CPR Certification.     Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:   •    Knowledge of applicable Arizona Department of Health and The Joint Commission regulations. •    Knowledge of company personnel policies and procedures. •    Knowledge of standardized environmental services cleaning techniques. •    Knowledge of cleaning equipment, materials, and cleaning solutions. •    Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets. •    Knowledge of applicable infection control and safety procedures. •    Ability to explain orally or in writing the differences between levels of disinfection and perform intermediate level disinfection in areas where required. •    Knowledge and understanding of the different types of pathogens or microorganisms and the chain of infection •    Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and mathematics. •    Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing with staff and the public. •    Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels using customer service (i.e AIDET). •    Ability to work independently and demonstrate personal accountability. •    Ability to work effectively with individuals and demonstrate team-building skills with empathy and enthusiasm. •    Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. •    Ability to use visual acuity for inspections and detail orientated. •    Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment. •    Ability to speak the Navajo language and/or familiarity with the Navajo Way. •    Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines. •    Ability to demonstrate excellence in assigned tasks and duties and continually seek improvement in results. •    Skill in operating business computers and equipment. •    Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations. •    Practices critical thinking skills to include prioritization of duties and immediate needs/requests (Stat cleans) •    Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements.  •    Assists in onboarding new Environmental Services Technicians at Levels I and II as requested •    Maintain CPR certification and hospital annual training requirements. •    Ability to pass Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE)/American Hospital Association (AHA) EVS CHEST and CSCT certification training within recommended time.       Physical Demands:     Work is performed while standing (4-6 hours), sitting (1-2 hours), and walking (4-6 hours). Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. Requires bending, squatting, crawling, reaching, climbing, twisting and turning while observing personal safety and ergonomic safety features. Requires to the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 100 pounds.     Work Environment: Requires activities involving being around machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases. Exposure to bodily fluid and blood borne pathogens. Work is generally performed in a clinical setting with moderate to high noise level. Extended hours, irregular shifts, holiday hours; and may be required to take “call-back” shift hours as directed.
