Job DetailsJob Location: Ganado, AZ 86505Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 2 Year DegreeJob Shift: DayJob Category: Information TechnologyPosition Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Information Technology (IT) Director, the IT Technician provides software and network support, training, and troubleshooting in a hospital-oriented computer information systems (CIS) environment. Provides support on a wide range of applications and products. Provides support for personal computer(s), hardware, and software in a 7-day, 24-hour environment. Incumbent will also be required to coordinate various vendors and application(s) support teams. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provide technical support across all hospital locations, assisting staff with hardware, software, and connectivity issues, and responding to service requests by assessing needs and resolving or escalating as appropriate. Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer systems, applications, peripherals, and workstations, including performing routine updates, patches, upgrades, and system relocations while maintaining accurate inventory records. Investigate support calls in person or by phone, diagnose error messages, and implement effective resolutions such as reinstalling software or replacing corrupt files. Maintain accurate documentation of IT tasks, troubleshooting steps, system changes, and service request activity within the organization’s tracking system. Identify potential system issues, recommend improvements or corrective actions to the IT Director, and complete assigned system upgrades in a timely manner. Coordinate warranty or service contract repairs, including preparation of equipment for shipment or external service. Perform data backups according to established schedules and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of electronic records in compliance with HIPAA and the HITECH Act. Process purchase orders for IT equipment, supplies, and services as directed by the IT Director. Serve as a self-directed learner by maintaining current knowledge of technologies deployed at Sage Memorial Hospital. Contribute to team initiatives, maintain professional interactions with staff, patients, and visitors, and perform additional tasks as needed to support hospital operations. Perform other duties as assigned and required. Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications: Knowledge of hardware and software installation, configuration, testing, and operation, as well as core computer science principles and modern information systems methods, techniques, and procedures. Knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, networking concepts, and industry best practices. Strong troubleshooting ability, including isolating system issues, taking corrective action, solving practical problems, and evaluating multiple variables in dynamic situations. Ability to learn, adapt, and apply new technologies, including interpreting and translating technical terminology, documentation, and reports into clear, understandable information. Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate activities, manage projects, and follow instructions delivered in written, verbal, diagrammatic, or schedule form. Strong recordkeeping skills, including maintaining accurate logs, reports, and technical data. Ability to work independently, remain efficient under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and make well-reasoned decisions. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to present and explain technical information to non-technical users. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and other office productivity software. Ability to collaborate effectively with IT team members and interact professionally with individuals from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, including employees, patients, and visitors. Ability to distinguish colors and read small print when required for technical tasks. Skill in reviewing and interpreting technical manuals, journals, and instructions. Ability to speak Navajo—or familiarity with the Navajo Way—is a plus but not required. Must maintain IT certifications as required. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp, handle, or operate objects and equipment; reach with hands and arms; and effectively communicate through talking, seeing, and hearing. The role requires sufficient physical dexterity to perform all assigned tasks, including: Sitting for extended periods; Using a keyboard and mouse; walking, standing, and climbing; stooping, bending, and crawling into narrow or confined spaces; lifting and carrying items weighing 35 pounds or more; and performing any additional physical activities necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position Work Environment: Established work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Work is generally performed in an office setting with moderate noise. The environment can be fast-paced, requiring flexibility, responsiveness, and the ability to perform under pressure. This position requires work on weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts (day/night). Work may occur in both indoor and outdoor environments depending on operational needs. Travel may be required to handle IT support calls to our satellite clinic.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field. In lieu of an associate’s degree, must possess at least four (4) years of direct IT experience. Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience performing enterprise-level work for a medium to large-scale computer information system under advanced operating systems. Of the two (2) years of experience, one (1) year must be related to having direct experience in operating the enterprise, workstations, servers/network, and related peripheral equipment. Must possess the following IT certifications: CompTIA A+ or obtain within six (6) months of employment. Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamental or obtain within six (6) months of employment. CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCST (networking) or obtain within 12 months of employment. Cisco CCNA or obtain within 12 to 24 months of employment. Hospital-related IT work experience preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain appropriate clearance while employed. Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program requirements and background investigation.
