Job DetailsJob Location: Ganado, AZ 86505Position Type: Full TimePosition Summary: Perform professional work in the examination, diagnosis, consultation, education and treatment of patients under the general direction of the Dental Director. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The Dentist must:  • Examine, diagnose, provide consultation and treat patients as indicated. • Responsible for complete and accurate documentation of the patient’s dental diagnosis and treatment according to ADA Standards and Standards of Care.  • Inform the patient of diagnosis and treatment needs and options in such a way that the patient understands and can make an informed decision.  • Inform patients of their financial responsibilities relevant to planned procedures when applicable.  • Responsible for preparing patient laboratory cases and completing required laboratory prescription.  • See patients in a timely manner. • Electronically prescribe medications in a timely manner. • Participate in school dental programs and dental educational programs as necessary.  • Function as director at field clinics as appropriate.  • Assist in supervision and training of dental assistants.  • Participate in and attend in-service and educational programs seeking to improve and/or learn job-related skills.  • Present in-services to staff as appropriate.  • Meet and comply with standards of NHF Personnel Manual.  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.  • Provide direct supervision of the dental assistant assigned to him/her, under the general supervision of the Dental Director.  • May function as the Dental Director in his/her absence, attending Department Head and Medical Staff Meetings. Represent the Dental Clinic to Administration during the absence of the regular, appointed Dental Director. • Participate as a preceptor in the dental student program as necessary. • Participate in NHF and community functions as requested. • Assume responsibility for coordinating and overseeing one or more dental committee and/or area of compliance and/or membership in one or more hospital committees.  • Attend Medical Staff meetings.  • Attend appropriate committee meetings.  • Work in compliance with Hazard Communication Standard, Bloodborne Pathogen Standard, and Hospital Safety Standards.  • Employee may be requested to perform other duties not detailed in this job description.  Qualifications    Minimum Qualifications: •    Graduate of an accredited dental school.  •    One (1) year experience in clinical practice preferred.  •    Must possess a valid Arizona dental license.  •    Valid DEA License.  •    Current American Heart Association BLS certification.  •    Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program requirements and background investigation.     Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications: •    Knowledge of current practices of the diagnosis and treatment of dental and oral disease.  •    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients and personnel of the health care team.  •    Ability to speak the Navajo language and/or familiarity with the Navajo Way preferred. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit, use arms and hands to reach and grasp objects, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a Patient Care Environment with a moderate noise level.  Possible exposure to needle sticks, contact with communicable diseases, blood, saliva, bodily fluids, latex products, and minimal x-ray radiation. Work schedule is four, staggered 10-hour shifts: Monday – Thursday then Tuesday – Friday.
