Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Weber Gallagher has an immediate opening for an experienced defense litigation Paralegal in our Garden City Office.  The individual will be responsible for supporting a team of attorneys with litigation tasks from inception through trial and close. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage client cases from inception through trial and closing.
  • Daily time entry billing requirements.
  • Obtain, review, analyze and summarize documents, including medical records, financial documents and other relevant case information.
  • Trial preparation – such as trial binders, exhibits and preparing witness files.
  • Manage court docket calendar.
  • Create status reports and provide updates to appropriate parties.
  • Willingness to work on cases from start to finish and meet all court deadlines.
  • Additional duties as assigned. 


Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience, preferably in defense litigation support.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved organization.
  • Experience and knowledge of the NY court system and rules. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet all deadlines and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams of attorneys, legal staff, court staff, clients, expert witnesses, etc.
  • Demonstrated interest in defense litigation.
  • Ability to perform legal research, experience with Lexis a plus.
  • Familiarity with reviewing and obtaining medical records.
  • Experience with time entry billing in a law firm setting. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required.
  • Ability to work 5 days/week from our Garden City office.

This position offers a salary range of $60,000 plus and is based on a variety of factors including education, experience, and internal equity.
