CTS Cement is searching for a Bulk Terminal Supervisor who will oversee the operations of our new facility located at 8500 Avenida Chihuahua Pacifico, Santa Teresa, NM 88008. This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position that reports to the Director of Operations. Responsibilities and requirements are shown below.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take a personal interest in personal and team safety. Continuously look for ways to improve safety and assist others to do the same. 
  • Utilize all safety equipment required by the company and follow all company guidelines and safety standards. 
  • Facilitate Toolbox Safety Talks and Kick-off Meetings at start of the shift.
  • Conduct daily terminal walk-through inspection. Document findings and address any outstanding safety / housekeeping / environment / quality issues as needed.
  • This is a Working Supervisor role expected to operate in conjunction with 1-2 heavy equipment operator direct reports with Primary Duties:
    • Inspect railcars upon arrival and set safety brakes and wheel chocks
    • Raw Material Unloading Operations:
      • Operate excavator to unload Clay and Bauxite from open top gondola railcars
      • Operate wheel loader to stockpile Clay and Bauxite
      • Confirm railcars are fully emptied and properly released
    • Raw Material Loading Operations:
      • Direct inbound, empty dump trucks
      • Operate wheel loader to load trucks from stockpiles
    • Cement Loading Operations:
      • Confirm correct railcar is selected
      • Stage portable dust collector
      • Direct inbound pneumatic tanker trucks
      • Confirm hose connections are secure
      • Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues
      • Confirm railcars are fully loaded, sealed, sampled, and properly released
    • Document and report railcar status each day
    • Ensure inbound and outbound trucks are properly utilizing the truck scale for tare and gross weight tickets
  • Ensure preventative maintenance and minor routine repairs on mobile equipment are carried out.
  • Ensure employee productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure timely employee break periods.
  • Address poor employee performance through progressive discipline as needed.
  • This job may require shift work, callouts, scheduled and unscheduled hours. 
  • Employee may have work schedule adjusted on short notice.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of heavy equipment operation.
  • Bilingual – English / Spanish a plus.
  • Good safety and attendance record.
  • Self-starter and works well independently.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow workers and supervisors.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including use of email and completion of simple reports in Excel and Word.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and comfortable working with equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents including but not limited to safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and lab procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Good basic math skills, arithmetic, and basic algebra.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee will frequently be required to walk on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to dust. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, low lighting and artificial lighting. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, heat, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
