Loan Servicing DMV Specialist

Are you an experienced loan servicing professional with strong knowledge of vehicle titles, DMV regulations, and consumer lending? We’re looking for a Loan Servicing DMV Specialist to join our team and serve as a key resource for DMV, electronic title (ELT), and vehicle titling matters.
In this role, you’ll work closely with Loan Support, members, dealers, vendors, DMV representatives, and regulatory agencies to ensure vehicle titles and registrations are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations. You’ll also have the opportunity to support broader Consumer Loan Servicing functions, including auditing, collections, loan servicing, and process improvement.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as an expert point of contact for internal and external DMV, vehicle title, registration, and Electronic Lien and Title (ELT) questions.
- Review DMV documentation and packets for accuracy and ensure fees and required documentation are submitted timely.
- Prepare and process vehicle registration and titling documents to ensure the Credit Union receives the appropriate certificate of title and members receive valid registration.
- Work closely with Loan Support to perfect DMV titles and resolve title-related issues.
- Communicate with DMV offices, dealers, vendors, members, and regulatory agencies to research and resolve complex titling issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of DMV laws, regulations, and titling requirements across applicable states.
- Review and verify the release of secured titles to the appropriate parties.
- Maintain accurate title records and notes within Dealertrack.
- Audit DMV title activity in accordance with established policies and procedures and prepare reports for management review.
- Monitor and analyze the ELT system, identify discrepancies, and recommend process improvements.
- Provide knowledgeable and courteous assistance to members, staff, and vendors through the Title and Lien phone queue.
- Respond to questions regarding vehicle titles, registrations, applications, account procedures, and status updates.
- Monitor and update consumer loans based on assigned reports.
- Assist with training staff on current DMV regulations, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with Help Desk inquiries and other Consumer Loan Servicing functions as needed.
- Perform end-of-day balancing and other operational and clerical responsibilities.
- Support additional areas such as real estate, insurance, auditing, collections, and consumer loan servicing as assigned.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree preferred/required, or a high school diploma with equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- At least 5 years of financial institution experience, preferably with experience in vehicle titling, consumer lending, real estate, or loan servicing.
- Strong knowledge of DMV requirements, vehicle title processing, registration procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and process a high volume of transactions within established deadlines.
- Strong research, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret regulations and apply them to complex titling situations.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and core processing systems.
- Experience with Dealertrack or similar loan servicing/title systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with members, internal teams, vendors, and external agencies.

Compensation and Job Title is commensurate with experience and may fall under the following pay ranges:
Loan Servicing DMV Specialist- $26/hr to $33/hr
