PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Mesh Optical Technologies was founded on the belief that optical photons will be at the center of advanced technologies in the coming century. Making advanced technology ubiquitous means building at scale, and that’s exactly what we’re doing at Mesh.

We are seeking a Production Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations on our automated production lines. You will own execution and stability on the factory floor, ensuring production cells run safely, efficiently, and on target, while building and managing the technician team that keeps the lines moving.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead daily operations across assigned automated production lines, owning shift execution, line readiness, and production schedule adherence
  • Act as first-line responder for equipment and process disruptions; troubleshoot SMT, packaging, and automated assembly equipment to restore uptime before escalating systemic or engineering-level issues to Manufacturing Engineering
  • Monitor and drive uptime, throughput, yield, cycle time, and scrap performance against targets; communicate status clearly to production and engineering leadership
  • Hire, train, and manage a team of production technicians, scaling the team as capacity grows and shift structures evolve
  • Ensure disciplined use of MES and production tracking systems, including accurate data entry, lot traceability, and nonconformance documentation
  • Identify bottlenecks, workflow inefficiencies, and recurring failure modes; drive floor-level improvements and escalate structural issues with supporting data
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized production environments in compliance with company safety standards and operating procedures
  • Support new product introduction and production ramp activities, including first-article builds, process validation runs, and shift expansion planning

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience supervising production in automated manufacturing environments
  • Experience with SMT lines, packaging equipment, or automated assembly systems
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with production equipment, including the ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software-related line stops
  • Familiarity with production metrics (yield, uptime, cycle time, scrap) and a data-informed approach to floor management
  • Familiarity with MES systems and production traceability workflows
  • Experience supporting NPI or production ramp activities
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including clear shift handoff and escalation practices
  • Flexibility to support production ramp and shift expansion, including off-shift or weekend coverage as needed
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience hiring, onboarding, and managing production technicians, including performance development and shift scheduling
  • Experience in precision electro-mechanical, semiconductor, or photonic manufacturing environments
  • Experience with cleanroom or controlled-environment production operations
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, 5S, or similar continuous improvement frameworks
  • Experience writing or maintaining standard operating procedures and work instructions for production use
  • Familiarity with equipment preventive maintenance scheduling and spare parts management
