SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 

The Hardware Operator is responsible for accurately setting up, operating and maintaining PEM insertion machines to install fasteners and hardware into sheet metal according to specifications.  The operator will work closely with the production team to ensure efficient and accurate placement of components while maintaining high quality standards throughout the process.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:

  1. Set up and operate PEM insertion machines, ensuring correct installations and alignment of tools, dies, and fasteners.
  2. Load and position sheet metal onto the machine and secure them properly for accurate insertion.
  3. Adjust machine settings, such as pressure, alignment, and speed, to ensure proper insertion and adherence to specifications.
  4. Inspect and measure completed workpieces to ensure proper installation of fasteners and adherence to quality standards.
  5. Identify and report any defects or misalignments in the insertion process and make necessary adjustments.
  6. Maintain detailed records of inspections, measurements, and adjustments.
  7. Perform routine maintenance on PEM insertion machines including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts.
  8. Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues to ensure continuous operation and minimize downtime.
  9. Report significant mechanical problems to maintenance personnel or management.
  10. Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  11. Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure efficient operation.
  12. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  13. Maintain accurate records of production output, machine settings, and maintenance activities.
  14. Document any deviations from standard procedures and report them to Management.
  15. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and quality.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

 

A high school diploma, GED or equivalent  

Experience with power and hand tools is a plus

Basic math and communication skills required

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35 lbs.  Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Job consists of working in a manufacturing facility. Job could consist of making changes by hand or by running machinery equipment.
