Main responsibilities:
- Position Purpose
The Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Meat Department. This position helps ensure exceptional customer service, product quality, food safety compliance, inventory control, sales growth, and team development. The Assistant Meat Manager assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and profitable department while providing leadership to associates and ensuring operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales- Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
- Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and preparation recommendations.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and in a timely manner.
- Support department sales and profitability goals through effective merchandising and execution.
- Ensure service cases and displays are clean, attractive, fully stocked, and well-maintained.
- Promote value-added products, seasonal programs, and featured items.
- Assist in managing daily department operations, including cutting, packaging, stocking, and merchandising meat products.
- Ensure product quality, freshness, and presentation standards are consistently maintained.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering products and supplies.
- Oversee proper receiving, storage, rotation, and handling of products.
- Help control shrink and maximize gross profit through effective inventory management.
- Ensure department equipment is maintained and operating safely.
- Assist with supervising, scheduling, training, and coaching department associates.
- Provide daily work direction and operational support to team members.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and customer service excellence.
- Support onboarding and development of new associates.
- Assume department leadership responsibilities in the Meat Manager's absence.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, labeling, and health department regulations.
- Monitor proper temperature controls, storage procedures, and product handling practices.
- Maintain department cleanliness and organization consistent with company standards.
- Ensure associates follow all company safety policies and operational procedures.
- Participate in inspections, audits, and corrective action initiatives as needed.
- Execute merchandising plans, promotional programs, and seasonal sales initiatives.
- Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional displays.
- Conduct inventory counts and assist with inventory reconciliation activities.
- Monitor product movement and sales trends to optimize inventory levels.
- Support department profitability through effective merchandising and shrink reduction efforts.
