Human Resources Manager

FLSA: Exempt / Full-Time

Summary: Manage human resources at Hope's Door New Beginning Center, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee support, to ensure staff are equipped to provide trauma-informed advocacy and interventions that promote healing, safety, and empowerment of domestic abuse victims.

Reports to: Chief Operations Officer

Supervisees: Administrative Assistant

Location: Plano and Garland *Ability to travel to all HDNBC locations.

Schedule: Monday – Friday – Generally 9-5 business hours with ability to set schedule to meet the needs of staff and programming.

Under the supervision of Hope's Door New Beginning Center's Chief Operations Officer, the HR Manager manages the administration and coordination of human resources functions to ensure compliance with agency policies and to support organizational goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employee Relations, Employee Support & Compliance

  • Serves as the primary point of contact fo remployee relations matters.

  • Conduct workplace investigations and support performance management and conflict resolution.

  • Administer leave programs(FMLA, ADA, other applicable leave), workers' compensation, and unemployment claims.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

  • Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining HR policies and procedures.

  • Provide guidance to employees and supervisors regarding HR policies, payroll, benefits,

    and employment matters.

  • Participate in leadership meetings and communicate HR initiatives to staff.

Recruitment & Employee Development

  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and employee offboarding
  • Maintain and update job descriptions
  • Coordinate employee training, performance evaluations, and recognition programs
  • Support employee engagement and retention initiatives

Payroll, Benefits &HR Administration

  • Process and administer payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Administer employee benefits, including new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, open enrollment, and employee education.

  • Maintain personnel files, HR records, and payroll documentation while ensuring confidentiality.

  • Oversee HRIS administration, data integrity, reporting, and system maintenance.

  • Prepare HR, payroll, and compliance reports and conduct periodic audits.

  • All other duties assigned

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics or related field required; Master's degree preferred

    • Three to five years of experience in Human Resource Management, including payroll and benefits administration.

    • Valid Driver's License

    • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certifications preferred

      Preferred Knowledge and Experience:

    • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.

    • Ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively build relationships and establish credibility.

    • Plan, organize, and prioritize time/workload to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines

    • Knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices; strong experience providing

      consultation and advice on a variety of Human Resources issues.

    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) and data

      management environments.

    • Preferred knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence and related issues.

    • Experience cultivating and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse group of

      people and remain sensitive to their concerns.

    • Knowledge of crisis intervention skills.

    • Ability to present a positive and professional image of the Agency.

    • Ability to work as a team member.

Physical Requirements: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (up to 25 lbs.). Ability to drive to office locations.

Working Conditions: Plano/Garland. This position will be partially remote via telework until circumstances shift based on the needs of clients, grant funders, and or CDC recommendations. HDNBC is located both in Plano and Garland communities.
