We are currently looking for a Materials Science Engineer to join our team onsite in our Garland, TX facility. We foster a professional, high-energy culture where employees are empowered to succeed.  This position will support the development, characterization, and production of specialized glass and chemical components. This role combines laboratory analysis, process control, and equipment troubleshooting to ensure high-quality manufacturing outcomes. The ideal candidate is both technically skilled and mechanically inclined, with the ability to work across laboratory and production environments. Responsibilities: Material Characterization: Conduct thermal and physical analysis to determine material properties such as glass transition temperature (Tg), softening point, and coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). Advanced Material Evaluation: Utilize FTIR spectroscopy, striae scopes, and infrared (IR) imaging to evaluate material quality and identify internal stresses or defects. Precision Glasswork: Perform specialized quartz and glass work, including sealing of caps and ampoules. Process Execution & Control: Execute and monitor glass production processes to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to specifications. Controls & Automation: Program, operate, and troubleshoot industrial controllers to maintain precise temperature profiles and process stability. Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine maintenance and basic electrical troubleshooting on laboratory and production equipment, including ovens, rockers, and control panels. QualificationsMinimum Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related technical field Experience with thermal analysis and optical inspection techniques Ability to troubleshoot and maintain laboratory or industrial equipment Experience working with temperature controllers or process automation systems Comfortable working with high-temperature systems and specialized materials Preferred Experience working with glass, quartz, or high-temperature materials Familiarity with vacuum systems or sealing technologies Experience with PLCs or advanced controller programming Prior experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment Hands-on mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to work in a laboratory and manufacturing environment with high-temperature equipment Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on technical work Ability to lift up to [insert weight, e.g., 25–50 lbs] as needed Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required
