Job Scope:
The Operations Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the organization by managing and analyzing accounting data related to daily business operations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing detailed reports, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities to drive informed decision-making. The Operations Accountant collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including finance, operations, and management to streamline processes and improve financial controls. By monitoring operational costs and identifying variances, this role helps optimize resource allocation and enhance profitability. Ultimately, the Operations Accountant contributes to the overall financial health and strategic growth of the company through meticulous accounting and insightful financial analysis.
Essential Duties:
Get up to speed with department and positional duties within 6 months and have a noticeable impact on the team.
Use of analytical skills to review and account for operational transactions across multiple companies.
Provide analysis, management reporting, planning, and accounting support to our growing business
Prepare balance sheets and profit and loss statements, and other financial reports
Responsibilities also include:
Budgeting and Forecasting
Financial month end close process
Monthly results commentary
Creating and Preparing financial analysis
Track and communicate capital expenditure projects
Ad hoc reporting
Assisting departments and other finance/accounting team members
Tracking and monitoring of internal projects including long term projects on % complete method
Special projects as assigned by the Director of Financial Reporting
Secondary Duties:
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent skills with Microsoft Office and the ability to rapidly learn different software applications
- Attention to detail.
- Thinker and not transactional
- Easy going but driven to work autonomously.
- Able to effectively manage relationships with other departments and people
- The ability to work independently is crucial
- Must be highly computer literate with data mining and ERP systems, have strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management and analytical skills
- Requires deadline driven, high-energy individual, able to work autonomously and lead as key contributor on teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, strong interpersonal skills are a must, as well as willingness to accept and task ownership of new responsibilities in a fast-growing environment
- Travel will be necessary occasionally
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; CPA preferred but not necessary.
Experience Requirements:
5+ years of relevant accounting/financial analysis experience within in a manufacturing, distribution, or construction environment.
