21st Century Charter School @ Gary is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-12. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing an outstanding education for the students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. We are committed to providing our students with instruction that is standards-based and challenging, that meets the needs of each individual student enrolled. We firmly believe that “through our doors walk college graduates”. Through our partnership with Ivy Tech Community College our students will be able to take dual credit courses with the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to the student. Students who attend 21st Century Charter School will graduate with a minimum of a Core-40 High School diploma and up to 60 college credits and their associate degree. 

REPORTS TO/TERM: 

• Principal and Operations Manager
• This is a full time 12-month position

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

• A Custodian is required to perform the following duties:
• Heavy cleaning of walls, floors and other surfaces
• Responsible for all set up arrangements for school activities, programs and events
• Maintains outside playground and surrounding building as well as parking lot
• Assist with snow removal and ice melt on walkways and parking lot
• Assists staff when needed for moving furniture or minor maintenance in classrooms
• Clean restrooms and stock all paper and soap supplies
• Secures schools at the end of the day
• Willing to open school when necessary for events or maintenance work to be done
• All trash removal
• Works with administration to maintain building repairs
• Participates and prepares for fire and safety inspections including fire extinguisher inspections
• Comply with all school policies and dress codes. 
• Other duties as asked

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• School building related experience
• Willing to work flexible hours
• Good attendance
• Comply with environmental, building codes and safety regulations
• Valid driver’s license
• Be able to lift 40 pounds
