Demoulding & Sanding Technician

Department: Production Reports To: Production Lead / Supervisor

Position Summary

The Demoulding & Sanding Technician is responsible for removing confectionery products from moulds, completing sanding operations, inspecting product quality, and preparing finished product for the next stage of production. The Technician is responsible for maintaining quality, accurate documentation, batch traceability, and efficient production flow while minimizing product and material waste.

Key Responsibilities

Demoulding & Sanding

  • Safely and efficiently remove product from moulds while minimizing damage and product loss.
  • Operate demoulding and sanding equipment according to established procedures.
  • Apply the correct sanding material evenly and consistently.
  • Monitor product for sticking, clumping, excessive tackiness, uneven sanding, damaged pieces, and other quality defects.
  • Ensure finished product meets established appearance and quality standards.
  • Transfer completed product into properly identified containers for the next production stage.
  • Maintain separation and traceability of SKUs, batches, and lots.

Accuracy & Documentation

  • Verify the correct SKU, batch, lot, and sanding material before starting production.
  • Accurately record product weights, yields, and required production information.
  • Track, weigh, and document all waste accurately, including damaged product, product remaining in moulds, spills, and sanding-related losses.
  • Report unexplained yield discrepancies, quality concerns, or documentation issues immediately.
  • Complete production records accurately and in real time.

Equipment, Sanitation & Safety

  • Perform required equipment checks before operation.
  • Keep demoulding and sanding equipment and surrounding work areas clean and organized.
  • Follow required cleaning, sanitation, and changeover procedures.
  • Report damaged moulds or equipment issues promptly.
  • Follow all GMPs, SOPs, safety requirements, and required PPE practices.

Performance Expectations

  • Maintain consistent product quality and sanding coverage.
  • Meet production throughput expectations without sacrificing quality.
  • Minimize avoidable product and sanding material waste.
  • Maintain accurate batch, yield, and waste documentation.
  • Identify and communicate problems before they impact production.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and production-ready work area.
  • Work effectively with upstream and downstream production teams.

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing or food-production experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and basic math skills.
  • Ability to follow SOPs and production instructions.
  • Ability to accurately weigh materials and complete production documentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a repetitive production environment.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
