Job Description:

 

The L3Harris Space Superiority and Imaging site in Rochester, NY is a leader in designing and producing advanced space and airborne systems. The Operations Organization is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support key programs and help scale production processes for rapid growth. This role provides critical technical manufacturing leadership, drives continuous improvement, and enhances overall operational efficiency. It also collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop efficient production strategies, optimize workflows, and ensure high‑quality execution of all projects.

 

Essential Functions:

 

• Lead and execute manufacturing engineering activities for the assembly, test, and integration of electromechanical and optomechanical assemblies on assigned program(s)
• Author written work instructions from technical documentation and create manufacturing procedures and routers
• Lead design changes by coordinating with design engineering to address technical, operational, and obsolescence issues
• Interface with technicians and other operations personnel throughout hardware integration and test
• Propose and lead process improvement projects focused on optimization of manufacturing processes
• Estimate and track manufacturing costs; use that data to initiate continuous improvement activities
• Support capacity planning, space layout requirements, and risk reduction for upcoming programs
• Lead root cause analysis for manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions
• Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-sector, site-located teams—including design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production—to ensure product manufacturability and alignment with business objectives
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to early career professionals
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality to integrate design and process integrity processes such as xFMEAs and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
• Ability to obtain US Government security clearance

 

Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience; Or, Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience; Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

• Knowledge and/or experience with the aerospace industry or manufacturing engineering producing spaceflight hardware and PCBAs or cables
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
• Knowledge and/or understanding of circuit analysis, concurrent engineering, and operational concepts of new product development
• A developed area of expertise/subject matter expertise
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
• Tool and/or fixture design

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $73,000-$135,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
