Department/Division/Section: Housekeeping

Job Summary/Essential Functions: The Housekeeping Department is responsible for upholding and maintaining the cleanliness and safety standards of Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies regardless of the time of day or time of year. The Housekeeping supervisor is responsible for seeing to it that these standards are maintained. This positions reports for the Maintenance and Engineering director. 

Overview

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

• Following all safety procedures & maintaining a high level of safety awareness throughout department
• Scheduling housekeeping team members to ensure proper coverage to fit business needs
• Training entire staff to properly do their job and maintain our cleanliness standard
• Inspecting entire facility to ensure it is maintained to our standard and providing both positive and corrective feedback to crewmembers and addressing anything that needs attention
• Follow up on projects to ensure they are completed properly and in a timely manner
• Ordering and maintaining all housekeeping supplies
• Covering shifts as needed
• Encouraging crew members to be team players and have a positive work attitude while doing the same
• Assigning crew projects as needed
• Helping with other positions throughout the aquarium as needed

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Work may involve stepladders, or lifts, reaching overhead, bending, and stooping, climbing and crawling.
• Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred qualifications:

• 1-2 years in a lead housekeeping role
• Excellent supervision and communication skills
• Articulate, friendly and well-spoken.

Language: Fluent in English
