Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. JOB SUMMARY: 

The Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating labor, material, and overall project costs, supporting bid preparation, and collaborating with project managers and engineers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. This position requires a keen understanding of electrical infrastructure and the ability to manage cost analysis, takeoffs, and vendor coordination.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately estimate labor costs for high voltage substation, transmission, and distribution projects, including labor hours, skill levels, and equipment needs.
  • Analyze historical data and project scope to develop accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and overhead, ensuring competitive pricing and profitability.
  • Conduct detailed takeoffs and quantity surveys for various project components, such as equipment, materials, and substructures, to determine accurate project requirements.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to understand project scope and requirements, ensuring accurate and comprehensive estimates.
  • Support the preparation of bid proposals by providing detailed and accurate cost estimations, including direct labor, subcontractor costs, materials, and overhead.
  • Stay informed about current market trends, labor rates, material costs, and industry standards to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges in the scope of work, including labor shortages or material cost fluctuations, and provide recommendations for mitigating those risks.
  • Interact with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and validate cost assumptions for materials and labor.
  • Maintain clear and organized estimation files, reports, and documentation. Prepare detailed estimates and summaries for review by senior management.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of estimating experience in the electrical power industry, specifically with high voltage substation, transmission, and distribution projects. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Estimating certifications is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Estimator, Procore, or similar).
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, labor costs, and material requirements in high-voltage infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to assess and estimate labor, including understanding different trades involved in electrical power construction.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices related to electrical field services.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
