About the Role:

The API 510 Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of pressure vessels within industrial facilities across the United States. This position involves conducting thorough inspections, assessments, and evaluations of pressure vessels to verify adherence to the American Petroleum Institute (API) 510 standards and applicable regulatory requirements. The inspector will identify potential defects, corrosion, and other integrity issues, providing detailed reports and recommendations for repair or replacement to maintain operational safety. Collaboration with maintenance teams, engineers, and management is essential to develop inspection plans and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively. Ultimately, the role safeguards personnel, assets, and the environment by upholding the highest standards of pressure vessel integrity and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pressure vessel inspection or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of API 510 code and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Proficiency in nondestructive examination (NDE) techniques such as ultrasonic testing, radiography, and magnetic particle inspection.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection data accurately.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications such as API 570 (Piping Inspector) or API 653 (Tank Inspector).
  • Experience working in refinery, petrochemical, or power generation industries.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and inspection software.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train and mentor junior inspectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed inspections of pressure vessels in accordance with API 510 standards and company policies.
  • Evaluate inspection data, including thickness measurements, weld examinations, and material condition assessments.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports documenting findings, non-conformities, and recommendations for repairs or alterations.
  • Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams to develop inspection schedules and ensure timely completion of inspections.
  • Verify that all repairs and alterations comply with API 510 requirements and maintain accurate records of inspection activities.
  • Stay current with changes in codes, standards, and industry best practices related to pressure vessel inspection and integrity.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to site personnel regarding pressure vessel integrity and inspection procedures.
