The Patient Representative is responsible for supporting front-end patient access functions within the MRI department, including accurate patient registration, collection and verification of demographic and financial information, and insurance verification. This role ensures required authorizations and pre-certifications are identified and obtained in accordance with payer guidelines while promoting data accuracy, compliance, and a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

Education

Minimum:  High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred:  A.A.S.

 

Experience

Minimum:  Minimum 1 year previous related office (hospital or physician) billing experience required. Experience to include familiarity of relevant third party billing regulations and ability to code ICD 9/ ICD10 diagnosis. Experience dealing with patients in an effective and professional manner, typing 40-50 wpm, medical terminology, knowledge of CPT coding.

Minimum:  Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.  Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.  Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills. Computer literacy

Preferred:  Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record
