SUMMARY

Provides racquet lessons.  Explains and demonstrates principles, techniques and methods of regulating movement of body, hands and feet to achieve proficiency in racquet. Observes students during practice to detect and correct mistakes.

Essential Functions:

Develops quality racquet instruction to market to individuals and groups. Provides racquet lessons to groups. Performs on-on-one private training sessions. Coordinates lessons with racquet professional, pro shop, and other departments. Conducts lessons and clinics. Maintains cleanliness and neatness of fitness equipment and facility. Ensures a pleasant visit for each guest; maintains effective guest relations. Performs special projects delegated by management. Stays updated on latest developments pertinent to the department as well as the location.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Strong playing background required and 2 years of teaching experience required.  Current required local and/or state professional certification and/or license; high school diploma or general education degree (GED); proven instructor skills; and demonstrated outstanding customer service.  Must possess willingness to learn and perform new racquet programs, excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, drive and motivation.  Flexibility with schedule with evenings and weekend work required. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to read and interpret retail product labeling.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
