Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator with a strong background in structural demolition. This role requires hands-on expertise in tearing down residential and commercial structures, managing site logistics, and maintaining equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
This is not an entry-level role. Candidates must be confident operating independently on active demolition sites.
Key Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment including excavators, skid steers, and loaders for demolition projects
- Perform structural demolition of residential and commercial buildings
- Execute precise demolition techniques while maintaining safety and structural control
- Manage site logistics including material staging, debris flow, and equipment positioning
- Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections
- Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
- Work closely with crew leads and project managers to execute job plans
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and regulations
- Assist with manual labor as needed to support crew efficiency
- Some travel requiredÂ
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in demolition
- Proven experience with full structural tear-downs (residential and commercial)
- Strong understanding of demolition sequencing and site safety protocols
- Ability to read job scopes and execute with minimal supervision
- Experience managing site flow and logistics efficiently
- Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
