What we’re looking for

Robot Team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Digital Factory / Body Weld Robot Engineer to support digital factory initiatives related to robotic welding and automotive manufacturing operations.

This role will support body production engineering activities through 3D body weld modeling, robotic welding feasibility studies, offline robot teaching, and digital manufacturing support using DELMIA, CATIA, and related engineering tools.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience within automotive manufacturing, robotics, digital factory systems, or body weld operations. Experience supporting robotic welding applications, robotic material handling, and offline robot programming is highly preferred.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support and lead digital factory updates using DELMIA C3, CATIA, AutoCAD, and MS Office tools
  • Develop and modify 3D body weld models for automotive production lines
  • Study Z1 and Z2 welding processes for feasibility and manufacturing optimization
  • Estimate robotic welding cycle times for manufacturing applications
  • Create 3D concepts for robotic welding equipment and end-of-arm tooling (EOAT)
  • Support robotic welding and robotic material handling initiatives
  • Perform offline robot teaching and offline data preparation activities
  • Support onsite and offline robot teaching documentation and implementation
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on body weld model changes and production updates
  • Work with multiple digital engineering data formats and manufacturing systems
  • Support continuous improvement activities related to robotic welding and manufacturing processes

Requirements

Qualifications / What you bring

  • Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in a similar engineering or manufacturing role
  • Engineering degree preferred (Mechanical Engineering preferred) or equivalent work experience
  • Manufacturing and/or robotics experience required
  • Experience with 3D design and digital engineering software including:
    • CATIA
    • DELMIA
    • SOLIDWORKS
  • Experience with automated robotic welding systems (spot weld or arc weld)
  • Experience with robotic material handling systems
  • Experience with robot teaching or offline robot data preparation
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including advanced Excel proficiency
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive manufacturing experience, especially Body Weld / BIW operations
  • Experience with laser scanning technology
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Experience with SharePoint
  • VB or VBA programming experience
  • Experience supporting robotic welding within automotive production environments
  • Experience with offline robot simulation or digital factory initiatives

Additional Information

  • Travel up to 10% within Mexico and Canada
  • No international travel currently planned
  • Steel toe boots required
  • Hands-on manufacturing floor support environment
