Job Description

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a talented Senior Electrical Engineer to join our dedicated team at our headquarters in Germantown, Maryland.

 

In this role, you will assess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, work with a Project Manager to determine the scope of work, and write the scope of work for electrical designs. You will also assign and review the work of the project design team and check the progress of work, alerting the Project Manager to changes in scope or additional services.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyze the operation of existing systems, as well as work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required.
  • Coordinate all aspects of project document completion within the company and externally with clients and other design professionals, and will prepare or review construction budgets based on experience and scope of the project.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Research design options and document findings for Project Designer/Engineer, while assuring that drawings and designs are per the company's production and design standards.

The salary offered for this role is between $102,000 and $157,000, but the actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set, and education.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Extensive electrical design experience in all project phases and a thorough understanding of the construction process.
  • Experience with the design of building electrical systems, such as building service, power distribution, generators, lighting, fire alarm, security, and other low-voltage systems.
  • Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
  • Knowledge of ETCI Wiring Regulations, IEC Standards, EN Standards, and building regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Nutraceutical, or Life Science industry experience.
  • Chartered Engineer or working toward it.
  • Experience with medium voltage systems, electrical hazardous classified areas, and telecommunications systems.

 

All interviews are conducted either in person or virtually, with video required.
