Hillandale Farms, Gettysburg PA Farm is adding a full time Semi Truck /Trailer Mechanic for our 2nd shift in our Truck Shop in Gettysburg who is reliable and experienced mechanic!  You will be inspecting and maintaining the mechanical and electrical parts of our trailers. The responsibilities of the trailer mechanic include servicing and repairing trailer parts, compiling inspection reports, and ensuring that trailers are roadworthy.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing semi-truck and trailer bodies, systems, and components.
  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance measures on semi-trucks and trailers.
  • Performs test on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function 
  • Diagnose defects and perform related repair
  • Assembling and dissembling vehicle engines and cleaning the fuel tanks.
  • Maintaining hubs and axles and adjusting or replacing them when required.
  • Inspecting, servicing, and replacing trailer parts, including tires.
  • Checking and repairing the brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Testing all systems and equipment for performance issues.
  • Ensuring that trailers meet the U.S. DOT regulations and requirements.
  • Compiling inspection reports, documenting repairs, and reporting all findings to management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of FHWA Inspections 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent 
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification.
    • Certified Welder (CW)
    • EPA section 608 certification and Refrigeration License 
  • A minimum of 1-year experience in semi-tractor maintenance and repair and/or training program
  • A valid driver's license. (CDL)
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, such as hydraulics, air breaks, and electrical systems.
  • Extensive experience with vehicle diagnostic equipment.
  • Exceptional understanding of mechanical and technical information.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Manual dexterity, experience with hand tools, and physical strength.
  • Completed training and certification in welding 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.  Position requires repetitive lifting, squatting, twisting, turning, kneeling and bending.
