Job Title: Delivery Driver I


Position Summary

The Delivery Driver I safely operates company vehicles such as vans, pickup trucks, or straight trucks to transport materials, merchandise, and equipment to assigned destination.

Essential Functions 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.   • Makes deliveries and pick-ups to and from customers and vendors in various locations through the local and metro area and other locations, when necessary.
  • Determine proper packing requirements to ensure the safe handling of products and meeting customer specifications.
  • Know, understand, and observe the relevant rules and regulations of the Department of Transportation.
  • Must possess flexibility in changing assignments.
  • Counting and packaging of orders being shipped.
  • Verify accuracy of delivery receipts for job number, counts, description of items being shipped, carrier, weight, and destination.
  • Verify shipments are placed on proper carriers for shipment.
  • Verify skids are properly tagged with job number, description of product, number of skids being shipped.
  • Responsible for the preparation of delivery receipts, when necessary.
  • Perform routine checks on power lift equipment; leaks, battery water levels, and visibly worn out or loose parts. Reports such malfunctions to the shipping supervisor.
  • Perform daily, weekly tests on trucks (lights, oil, tire wear and rotation) keeps up to date with Shipping Lead about scheduling routine maintenance with trucks/vans. 
  • Knowledge of proper receiving procedures and perform this task, when needed.
  • Locates items on the delivery list and determine the status of product to be shipped.
  • Locates and prepare items on the next day’s list for shipping when possible.
  • Manage packing slips.
  • Responsible for following safety procedures in the plant including, but not limited to, Lock-out-tag-out, Hazard Communication, OSHA rules and regulations, and injury reporting.
  • Maintains the highest level of security and confidentiality as defined by company policy.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or President / CEO 

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred with 3-6 months previous experience strongly preferred.  
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Driver’s License with no moving violations for previous three years. Annual MVR checks will be obtained by the company.
  • Requires the ability to obtain a forklift operator's license and obtain a Medical Certification Card.
  • Complete annual driver safety classes (defensive/distracted driving, aggressive driving, safety for medium/light duty trucks). 
  • Complete all required training courses upon hire and annually thereafter.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Exclusion from the System for Award Management (SAM) List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) prior to hire and ongoing throughout their tenure at the company. Inclusion in the LEIE is grounds for immediate dismissal.
