Overview:
This position is responsible for determining borrower eligibility for SCRA and monitoring accounts throughout the period of eligibility to ensure compliance.
Work Model and Location:
-This is a hybrid role requiring four days on site with the flexibility to work from home one day per week.
-Eligible candidates must live within reasonable commuting distance to 475 Crosspoint Parkway, Getzville, NY 14068.
Skills & Experience
3+ years of combined education and/or work experience, including 1+ year of relevant experience
Mortgage experience required; familiarity with active military loans a plus
Proficient in Word, Excel, and email systems; able to navigate multiple programs
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly detail‑oriented, organized, and flexible
Motivated, positive team player with the ability to work independently
Strong work ethic and research skills
Key Responsibilities
Research loan information and move efficiently through multiple systems
Participate in weekly cross‑functional meetings, present loans, and support decision‑making
Communicate confidently during virtual meetings
Determine borrower eligibility for SCRA and monitor accounts throughout eligibility periods
Evaluate SCRA requests against federal guidelines
Primary Responsibilities:
- Determine eligibility; evaluate SCRA requests against federal guidelines to determine approval/disapproval of eligibility for SCRA.
- Determine, compute and reverse any erroneous fees that were assessed during the SCRA period.
- Maintain status list and perform statistical reporting to management.
- Complete rate, amortizing, and billing adjustments on all eligible accounts at both initiation and release from SCRA protection.
- Conduct quarterly analysis and investigate SCRA Investor mortgages to confirm compliance with investor regulations.
- Hold weekly committees with various departments and management on any issues, foreclosures and loan level issues.
- Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:
This position maintains contact with internal M&T departments and external third-party foreclosure attorneys.
Education and Experience Required:
A combined 3 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience.
Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and email software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Detail oriented.
Motivated, team player with a positive and friendly attitude.
Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
Education and Experience Preferred
Bachelor’s degree
