Summary of Duties
The Neurologist will provide aeromedical neurology consultation, teaching, research, and professional advisory support for the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine, Neuropsychiatry Branch/Aeromedical Consultation Service.
The position focuses on occupational and aeromedical neurologic evaluation involving aircrew members, special-duty operators, and other Airmen. The Neurologist will independently review clinical records, provide expert consultations and recommendations, summarize complex clinical cases, collaborate with other branch personnel, participate in teaching activities, and support scientific and statistical investigations.
The Neurologist will also assist with literature reviews, professional discussions, research planning, presentations, and other activities supporting the aeromedical mission while maintaining appropriate protections for HIPAA- and IRB-sensitive information.

- Must be a fully licensed Neurologist.
- Must hold current American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) board certification in Neurology.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience.
- Must maintain a permanent, full, and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state or jurisdiction.
- Must satisfy applicable Wright-Patterson AFB Medical Group credentialing and privileging requirements.
- Must satisfy applicable The Joint Commission (TJC), MAJCOM Headquarters, and Headquarters U.S. Air Force credentialing/accreditation requirements.
- Must have experience working with U.S. Air Force, aviation, or special-duty personnel, or possess at least one (1) year of aeromedical neurology or equivalent occupational-health experience.
- Must possess strong clinical judgment and independent consultation skills.
- Must be able to conduct detailed neurologic medical-record and chart reviews.
- Must be able to analyze and summarize complex clinical information.
- Must be able to support instruction, lectures, professional presentations, and educational activities.
- Must be capable of participating in scientific, statistical, and research investigations.
- Must comply with applicable HIPAA, IRB, privacy, and information-security requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Serve as an independent specialist supporting the Neuropsychiatry Branch/Aeromedical Consultation Service.
- Serve as an expert consultant and advisor on neurologic and aeromedical matters.
- Review, gather, and maintain relevant patient information and medical records.
- Analyze and summarize complex clinical cases.
- Provide professional recommendations regarding aeromedical neurologic issues.
- Support evaluations involving aircrew members, special-duty operators, and other Airmen.
- Collaborate with physicians, clinicians, researchers, and other branch personnel.
- Conduct professional instruction, lectures, and educational presentations.
- Participate in branch discussions, case reviews, and professional conferences.
- Design or support scientific and statistical investigations.
- Analyze research findings and present results.
- Participate in research planning and related scientific activities.
- Conduct and collaborate on medical and scientific literature reviews.
- Support case and literature discussions with clinical and research personnel.
- Maintain appropriate protection of HIPAA-sensitive information.
- Maintain appropriate protection of Institutional Review Board (IRB)-controlled information.
- Comply with applicable Air Force, USAFSAM, WPAFB, clinical, research, and information-security requirements.

Travel Requirements
- Travel may be required when authorized for meetings, conferences, or mission-related activities.
- Travel should be coordinated through the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) approximately two weeks in advance.
