Mobile Equipment Operator – 1st Shift

$20.00/hr starting pay
1st Shift | Monday - Friday 7AM-3PMÂ (Summer hours are 6AM-2PM)

As a Mobile Equipment Operator for Bell Lumber and Pole, you will play a pivotal role in our Gibsland yard by safely handling raw materials and finished products in a dynamic outdoor environment. If you are skilled at operating heavy machinery and are a team player, this role is for you!
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
•   Operate heavy mobile equipment such as log loaders, front end loaders, and other mobile machines to load, unload, and/or stack utility poles.  Â
•   Feed heavy production equipment (such as peeler or kiln) to keep them running constantly.
•   Move levers to raise, lower, and tilt hydraulically powered grapple or bucket in order to load material for transport.Â
•   Drive to storage site, conveyor, or other production equipment to move and unload material.
•   Perform and record prestart inspection and accurately follow machine operating instructions.Â
•   Perform routine maintenance on loader, like lubrication, fueling, oil changes and cleaning as needed or required, identifying any issues to maintenance. Â
•   Read and follow written documents for proper handling of customer products.Â
•   Perform moisture checks and/or anything else required related to kiln operations. Â
•   Maintain production paperwork and records daily.
•   Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, conducting department inspections as assigned. Â
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:Â High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Experience operations in log handling including long poles helpful.
- Experience operating mobile equipment including log loaders & frontend loaders.
- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions; majority of the time will be working outside.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms and is occasionally required to walk, stand, hear, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics are best defined as exposure to elements such as heat, cold, precipitation or toxic fumes. Employee will have steady exposure to noise as heard in a piece of mobile heavy equipment; at times noise levels will exceed safe working levels. Employee will have light exposure to the chemicals used in cleaning the plant. The job requires overtime.
