What You Will Do 

The Equipment Designer is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining detailed 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings, and engineering documentation for custom HVAC equipment, modular systems, and mission-critical infrastructure solutions. Working closely with Design Engineers, Project Managers, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations and other cross-functional teams, this role transforms engineering concepts, customer requirements, and product specifications into accurate, manufacturable designs that support successful project execution.

The Mechanical Designer develops and manages Bills of Materials (BOMs), component layouts, assembly drawings, and production documentation while ensuring compliance with company standards, engineering requirements, applicable codes, and manufacturing best practices. 

In this role, you will support the full design lifecycle by implementing design revisions, resolving technical drawing discrepancies, and maintaining configuration control within engineering systems such as Autodesk Inventor and Vault. You will collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to improve manufacturability, address production challenges, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, performance, and cost effectiveness. Through active participation in design reviews and engineering projects, you will contribute to the development of innovative cooling and modular infrastructure solutions that support some of the world's largest data center and technology customers.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Create and maintain detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, assemblies, and engineering documentation for custom HVAC equipment and modular infrastructure solutions.  

  • Translate engineering concepts, specifications, and customer requirements into accurate, manufacturable designs. 

  • Collaborate with Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to support project execution and ensure design intent is achieved.  

  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, and support technical documentation.  

  • Ensure drawing accuracy, revision control, and compliance with company / industry standards, and engineering procedures.  

  • Perform basic design validation activities, including tolerance reviews, fit-up checks, and manufacturability assessments.  

  • Host design reviews, implement design changes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.  

  • Provide engineering support for manufacturing, prototype builds, testing, and resolution of design-related issues.  

Required Qualifications 

  • Associate degree, diploma, or technical certification in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.  

  • 6+ years of experience supporting mechanical equipment, assemblies, or engineered products in a manufacturing environment.  

  • Understanding of sheet metal design, fabrication processes, manufacturing methods, and material selection.  

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, and operation teams.
