Estimator — Commercial Glass and Glazing Subcontractor

Location: Gilbert, AZ 85233 | In-Office (location is on the border for Gilbert/Mesa)

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM


A growing commercial glass and glazing subcontractor is seeking an experience Commercial Estimator to support current and upcoming commercial projects in the Phoenix area.  This role plays a critical part in evaluating commercial glass and glazing opportunities, developing accurate project scopes and estimates, and preparing competitive bids for upcoming work.


Ideal candidates will have industry experience in both estimating and project management, but the company is open to training a motivated individual with construction knowledge and strong analytical skills.


Position Overview

As the Commercial Estimator, you will analyze architectural plans, specifications, and scopes of work to prepare accurate and competitive bids for commercial glass and glazing projects. You’ll work closely with customers, vendors, field personnel, and leadership to develop project scopes, obtain pricing, evaluate costs and risks, and prepare detailed proposals.


Key Responsibilities (Estimating & Preconstruction)

  • Read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and scopes of work to identify project requirements and bid opportunities
  • Define project scope and ensure proposed work aligns with project specifications and industry standards
  • Perform material takeoffs and develop accurate, competitive estimates incorporating labor, materials, equipment, and other project costs
  • Develop cost estimates for exterior and interior storefront systems, interior Herculite doors, heavy glass walls, tenant improvement projects, and service work
  • Obtain and evaluate pricing from approved vendors to support accurate project estimates
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, and field teams to clarify project requirements, refine scope, and resolve discrepancies
  • Evaluate financial, technical, and operational risks that may impact project cost or execution
  • Prepare and submit clear, detailed proposals and bids aligned with project specifications, scope, pricing, and timelines
  • Participate in bid and scope review meetings and communicate estimating assumptions and project requirements to key stakeholder
  • Review and negotiate scope and pricing with customers to ensure alignment with project requirements and company standards.

Skills

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards, with the ability to accurately interpret plans and specifications and complete takeoffs and cost calculations.
  • Organization: Ability to manage project documents, estimates, deadlines, and multiple priorities concurrently while maintaining accuracy and timely submissions.
  • Attention to Detail: Thorough and precise when reviewing plans, developing takeoffs, and preparing estimates to ensure all project requirements and costs are accounted for.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify potential issues, adapt to changing project conditions, and develop practical solutions that keep estimates accurate and realistic.
  • Communication: Clear and professional communication with customers, vendors, field teams, and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure alignment throughout the estimating process.



Qualifications

  • Required
    • Construction/trade knowledge and ability to understand project scope
    • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans/specifications
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong organization and attention to detail
    • Clear communication and relationship-building skills
    • Ability to pass drug screening and MVR requirements
  • Preferred
    • Commercial construction estimating experience
    • Glass/glazing field or trade experience, particularly storefront, Herculite, tenant improvement, or related systems
    • Estimating/project management software experience
    • Microsoft Office proficiency



Work Schedule: In-office, full time, Mon to Fri, 7AM-4PM 
Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000/year, based on experience

Reports To:  Operations Manager
Supports: Project Managers, Superintendent
